To Edit or not to Edit. That is the question.

That should read, “Based on your third image.”

You posted a back-lit image that nobody would attempt to capture as a JPEG.
So you do get the point. Appreciate the agreement.
All of your other nonsense is off-topic and as such just your usual nonsense.

But
you don't.
∙ You don't understand JPEG exposure, even with the help of Canon's Auto Lighting Optimizer.
∙ You don't understand what happens with Auto WB in the presence of too much green vegetation (it compensates by shifting toward magenta, not "purple").
∙ You don't understand color balance, mixed light source color, or complementary colors.
∙ You don't know how to edit a JPEG to recover shadow information.
All you seem to be able to do is to click on the image with your eyedropper and move some sliders around in your software to get the result you want.
You are just here to belittle and berate anyone who considers JPEG to be a useful alternative to shooting raw under some conditions.
I understand a lot more than you think and it's not just photography and post processing.

Wow! Still really upset with yourself that you failed so many times to prove you were right when you were wrong. How many times did you try and fail -- at least four right. Was this fail number four or was it five?

You seem to be an angry and bitter person.
You need a less stressful hobby where nobody is going to make you seem petty and foolish.
I've followed this for 27 pages (life in the fast lane!) Can someone please tell me what this is all about....?

Good evening fellow Hoggers. I am having trouble with something. The something is editing. I'm a newbie to photography not to software. My problem is I can edit ANY photo to be perfect. By using focus stacking inserting objects from other photos cloning the list goes on. Is there somewhere that editing is limited or non existent. Are there enough people here who may have an interest in a area for unedited photos? I understand the line between lightly edited and IMHO created is a sticking point. That said how about ZERO EDITING. Just a thought from a person who has shot for a year and have been hell bent on taking great photos not making them. I hope no one thinks I'm bashing highly edited photos. They are amazingly beautiful. I just would rather be taking photographs instead of sitting in front of my computer. All opinions are respected. Let's hear from everyone. Thank you all for all the information you all post and especially the photos. Thanks again Bob

I keep reminding photographers that Ansel Adams photo's were heavily edited. He just did it in the lab with chemicals and burning and dodging. Today we use a mouse. If all you want is in camera, DO IT!! If you want a WOW image then do what you have to do.

And remember that Ansel Adams' Zone System ensured that the negative was as good as it could be SOOC, but it still required lots of darkroom work to optimize the image. I guess today's SOOC crowd expect he should have just been able to just make a straight print of his negs.
If you are happy with what you get out of the camera, great. If you want to take up a picture to the next level, great. You decide what you want to do with your photographs.
No one really cares except you, so do what you want.

I proud to say my images are made and not taken and I couldn't care less if some disagree with my methods.
