In recent months I had the realisation that three of my school mates had passed away, suddenly life just became too short for I wish I had, on my death bed !
So having previously said I,m sticking with my DX NIKON D7100 and I am,not parting with it !
I have also gone out and dipped my toe finally into the FX pond !

Bought a NIKON D700"old yes, 109'000 clicks yes, built like a tank and heavy, but for the £260 it cost me to get it in my hands, don't think I did too badly ?

Just awaiting my ordered cf card to arrive and I shall be testing, testing, meanwhile every you tube d700 video is being watched in preparation.

Photographs to follow and my views on this ere FX finally.
Graham

I'm sorry to hear of your recent losses. May I suggest something to you. If they had a favorite photograph can you print it out? Does it have a title? Print out a plaque and attach it to the frame. Make sure the plaque has the title and to whom it is dedicated to. Find a gallery that is willing to display it. Wait for others to comment. When we lose a friend or loved one it hurts but most people don't know our pain or our friendship. Let others be mindful of the friendship and the person who we have lost.

Please accept my condolences.

Yes, at my age, friends and relatives both disappear too soon.

But challenging yourself is good. It never hurts to be in danger of learning something new. And keeping your brain exercised as well as your body will help to keep you going longer.

I’ve shot with a D700 and D7100 for many years. Two best digital cameras I’ve ever owned. I recently invested in a D750 and D7200 over the holidays because of amazing savings but put them away for the day my D700 and D7100 are beyond repair. Your D700 and D7100 will add to your enjoyment of photography.

I bought my D700 when I retired thinking my years were coming to an end. That was almost ten years ago and my D700 and I are still going strong. I walk daily with it for exercise. Keep looking forward and enjoy.

My D200 has a cf card. I don't take it in or out because the pins are fragile and easily bent. I use the same cord that's on my card reader to attach the camera to the computer to download / erase pics from the card.

I have a D700 that I don’t use much anymore.
But, I will not let go of it.

The D700 with a sensor similar to that in the D3 has been an excellent tool. The price you paid is not bad at all assuming that the camera works like it should. I would spend some extra euros to have it adjusted, cleaned and lubricated.
Make a 20x30 inch enlargement of a file and see the quality of those 10 Mp.

Graham, my first foray into DSLRs was a D700. I still have that camera and use it from time to time. It's a great camera and I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

Congratulations on your move to FX. You'll love the added details you'll see with the D700. Have fun Graham with your new camera and I am looking forward to some of your photos being posted here on UHH.
