Wife skydiving for her B - Day.
I will be on the ground taking photos as she is coming down.
Will be using my Nikon D5300 W/ Sigma 18:250 Lens.
Suggestion on Camera settings, please.
Assume bright sunlight ( we hope ).

Thanks in advance for your help.

Roy

Set your camera to manual mode, fixed ISO. Before your wife boards the aircraft, set your exposure while pointing the camera at your wife and take a photo--check the result by reviewing the image on the back of the camera. Adjust the exposure until you are happy with the image. (If you are not in manual mode, the camera will automatically underexpose because the sky will dominate the exposure.)

Great advice. The sky will fool a camera on automatic giving only silhouettes!

A guess here, but probably like a dark bird against a bright sky. Probably plus 1 to 2 stops off the sky and fast enough to freeze the action. Not really that quick so 1/2000 should be more than enough. That's probably a reasonable place to start.

Position yourself around the landing area so the sun is at your back.

Why are you not jumping with her so you can get shots on the way down?

Borrow, rent or buy a GoPro or similar for her to wear. Probably a one off experience, certainly a memorable one!

Suggestion: Have a friend video it for you at the same time.
