I couldn't sleep last night, so I was up watching a show about Charlottesville, VA on PBS, which led to the removal of some Confederate Statutes. About 4:30 am I switched to a local channel and I was shocked to see a breaking news story about a mass shooting right here in Dayton, OH that had taken place some 3 1/2 hours earlier. Some 24 year old guy from a very nice area around here went to an area here in Dayton called the Oregon District that has a lot of eating places, some theaters, and bars, and opened fire outside on business patios with an automatic rifle. 9 people killed, 26 people injured and taken to 4 different hospitals in Dayton. Where are all of these mentally unstable people coming from? Please, I don't want this to turn into some political argument; that is not my intention at all. This sort of stuff is really getting scary though; We are warned about these things happening and getting worse in the Bible. I watched this coverage on the local news until about a half an hour ago, then I had seen enough for now. I turned on the computer and checked some email and ran across a beautiful video that I thought the "Hoggers" would really enjoy watching, so I am posting it here for all of you. After seeing this video, I felt better about Our World again. It really is beautiful; and I have never seen so many penguins. Hope you enjoy it.

By the way, the Dayton Police responded almost immediately when the bullets started flying and killed the shooter, all within one minute; yet that was enough time for all of this to happen. Sad.

The responsibility for any killing of others lies with the killer. I'm a gun owner, use mine responsibly, and refuse to feel guilty about what others do.

Without knowing more about the Dayton shooter, he may be a copy cat of the El Paso shooter. However, no one will every know for sure, since the Dayton Police killed him less than a minute upon arrival.

I suspect, however, that we'll find that both shooters yesterday and this morning, were probably mentally troubled in some way.

Don't think it was copycat. He had body armor, ear protection, and the news just said that some of this guys neighbors said that they were not surprised. Why don't people say something when they think someone is unstable. Baffles me.

I blame the worlds troubles on too many people.
The world is overpopulated. And with technology turning
the world into a "global village; equals too much
competition, that equals too many losers...
equals too much frustration, which equals mass murders.

I've said it before and I'm saying it again, it's a bad idea for
any couple to have more than 2 kids.

Also in the news was the shooting in El Paso, Texas at the Cielo Vista Mall. This is the city I was born and raised. I am heartbroken over this event. It's hit me hard not because I knew any one hurt or killed but because that mall was where, as a teenager, I shopped for back to school clothes and Christmas presents. My best friends and I would walk (yes, walk, 10 miles one way) to and from that mall to shop or hang out together.

It is such a shame that these events occur. I fell terrible for the families whose loved ones have been ripped from their lives and hope that some day these senseless acts will end.

Is it the number of children or the lack of instilling morals and values into them?

Sometime in the last couple of years there was an interview of a young woman whose brother was killed robbing a convenience store. She was very upset about losing her brother and felt he was wrongfully killed. He was stealing to pay his college tuition so in her way of thinking, he was doing nothing wrong.

There's a real connection between the constant exposure to video games, and the loss of a sense of reality by the gamer. Not that either killer was likely unaware of his actions.

We have a son who's a high-functioning autistic (with severe Asperger's). We can always tell when he's spent a bit too much time with TV or his PC, and even at age 47, we still have to be wary.

This type of thing has been going on for a long time.
It happens in europe as well.
It also happens in Africa. 10's of thousands get slaughtered in one swoop. The average citizen isn't armed so there is nothing to stop them.
Look at Venezuela news the other day. There are killing squads eliminating opposition to the government.
In Nazi Germany they had the brown shirts. They acted very similar to Anti-fa today.

The democrat/socialist party is following the same steps play book as the last 2 above.
One thing standing in the way is the 2nd amendment.
More people die in Chicago in a weekend as than Texas the other day.

They are using every incident as a stepping stone to disarm America and deny us the ability to defend ourselves.

When society loses its fear of God and sense of sanctity of life there will be consequences. We are seeing them. There were just as many guns in the 50's (M-1's were sold for 20 bucks), but you didn't see mass shootings on this scale. The only one that I can recall was the Texas Tower shooting in 1966. I don't recall any in the fifties. Richard Speck was also in '66, but he used a knife.

Imho, it's too many people (young and old); not just the number of children.

Robbing a convenience store to pay for tuition is an act of desperation... just too many
people after the same position.

It seems a loving sister has clutched at any straw in order to excuse her brother.
I reckon if you are going to commit a robbery, be prepared to be shot and killed.

My sympathy lies with the person defending against the robber.

Luvmypets, I dropped out of school when I was 15, near the end of year ten (four years in high school).
At that time there was work begging to be had. For 12 months I sold aircraft hardware/parts and pilots supplies etc.
At the end of that 12 months my boss said, "The Cessna dealership across the road wants to employ you".
My wage more than tripled and I loved the work... my point is; in 1973 when the worlds population was 1/2 of what it is now, those sorts of opportunities existed. I wasn't desperate for tertiary education,
because you could (and did) do very well without it.

As well as twice the global population (1972/2018), we must
compete with others world wide, (jobs as well as space to live) not just in our local area. On top of that, technology is reducing the amount of jobs even further.

I reckon if Kirk Kerkorian was born today he would not get past selling fruit.

Too many people can't see any light at the end of their tunnel... desperate people do desperate things.

We must reduce world population... the sooner the better.

Don't have more than two children folks, please. The quality of our grand childrens and their
grand childrens lives depend on it.

I'll get off my soap box now... rant over.

If you think that, you were born very recently or have been out of touch.
