Marketed as a "hard top convertible" because there was no central window post. Have a picture of my Dad's new from the dealer. Memorable!

My first car, bought from my Dad for $1 (Kentucky required all car transfers be by sale.).
Mine was cream on top, a bit darker than this one in the middle and light blue on the bottom, no wheel skirts.
It also had a slightly modified V8 out of a 1955 Roadmaster under the hood.

I used it for 12th grade and my first two years of college. Burned most of the values in the engine due to a clog in the oil lines letting a large portion of the engine run dry, over heat and burned them out while doing 95 to pass a whole convoy of trucks on US 60. Sounded like a jack hammer under the hood but it kept doing 95 until I had passed the convoy. Made it home and it wouldn't start the next day.

I couldn't afford a new engine so it got traded + $35 to a salvage yard for a 1950 Studebaker that, well the best you could say is it ran. It did get me to school for the last 3+ months of my 2nd year of college in 1965. Then I dropped out, moved to So California to live with my mother and step-father while working in a supermarket to get money for another car. Tried to enlist in the army but was 5 lb over the weight limit. Then a month later I got my draft notice and passed (different requirements for draft) said "Hell no! you aren't drafting me." Did an extreme diet and exercise program for one month, passed the physical for Regular Army enlistment and reported one week before the draft board wanted me to report. Guess you could say I dodged the draft.
I did get another car out of it. I bought a 1969 Chevelle Malibu four door from the GM rep at the PX in Vietnam in Dec 1968 and picked it up from a Chevy dealer next to the LAX airport in mid Jan 1969 after I returned to the states and was discharged.
