I have the Canon M100 and M5 and 5 lens. I also have the G7X MkII. I use the GX7 MkII 90% of the time now, when I carry a camera, because it is pocketable, has a fast lens and a decent zoom from 24-100mm. I also like the touch screen focusing. Like you, I also have 2 children with children ages 10-2 and assure you that 100% of thier pictures are taken with thier iPhone 10's. Editing iPhone images is very easy now and results can be terrific even up to 11x14 prints. I just returned from a trip to Barcelona, Amsterdam and Normandy and the combination of the G7X MkII and my iPhone 10 were very convenient and complimentary.

I've seen the pictures the younger generation gets with their iPhone 10's. There're just not very good, IMO. I just can't think of the phone as a decent camera. It's just convenient, that's all. I have taken and printed a few decent 4x6 pictures from my iPhone XS. I've never tried anything larger.

You don't use the Canon M100 because it is too big?

Thank you all for your input. I decided to buy a refurbished Canon EOS M50 from Canon AND a used Sony RX100M6 from Adorama. If one or the other doesn't meet my expectations, I can always return it.

Our standard are different. I didn’t like our daughter’s wedding pictures, taken by the ‘pro’, because none of them is level. They are allowed to have their own standards - and they do!

You’ve got that right!! The Pro that did my granddaughter’s wedding didn’t get ANY pictures of the bride alone and many of them were out of focus or had bad shadows on the bridal party. They only bought a CD of the pictures, so I suppose we got to see the good, the bad, and the ugly. My granddaughter had two good ones printed for her wall. She was happy enough with them and that’s what counts. I never told her my thoughts about the pictures.

Best of luck with whichever you keep.
