I don't think the K-70 REPLACED the KS-2, RE … like I said, the KS series was a different line - at a different price point than the K-30/K-50 series. Obviously, the K-70 was the upgrade from the K-50.
I don’t agree, but this isn’t worth further discussion.

On the K-3 II - that, was clearly an upgrade from the K3. The KP - you got - like it or not - looks to be the upgrade to the K3 series. I really don't expect Ricoh to introduce another Crop.
Ricoh said at 2019 CP+ interviews that the next DSLR out the door would be the long-awaited K-3ii replacement.

Ahhhhhhh … okay, RE … then, I shall be the first on the Waiting List … I hope …

Hope they keep the Dual SD Card Slots, the 3.2" screen - and make it a fully-articulating one - as they have now on the K-70, and had - on the K-S2 … and make it Touch, also. AND, keep the GPS of the K-3 II … AND - put back the Built-In Flash they had on the K-3 … and - on your KP - right, RE?

I never used my K-30's OnBoard Flash and I never will use the OBF of the KP. I had some kind of accident {no, I don't know how} and cracked the plastic top of the KP. It still works fine, but when I used Gorilla Glue to stabilize the pieces, I accidentally permanently attached the OBF to the body in the downward position. No big loss - high ISO performance of the KP is tremendous, and the few times I need flash I have several small flashes dating back to the Film Age.

I always come back to Pentax for basic Photography (stills). They are rugged, resist weather and reliable. I currently use a K-1 mark II. I have owned most of the digital Pentax and back to the K1000 film. I do shoot with other brands for their features but Pentax is a stable. I have been at this as a hobby and profession for 68 years and currently judge in local photography contests. Long live Pentax!

Count me in! I started with a Spotmatic, graduated to a k1000, then a k100, 10, and D 3-II. Gave the 10 to a niece, still have the rest plus a second 1000 body. My fave lens is my Pentax 18-270. I’m sure part of my fondness is because I’m used to that system. Also when I bought the first digital, I could use my manual focus lenses. But a huge selling point is they are doggone tough. I’ve dropped them in beach sand and from a horse and fallen down a mountain trail and other things we won’t discuss and the worst I ever did was slightly dent the rim of one of their kit lenses so the cap doesn’t fit.

Oh, noooooooooooooo!!! … Sorry to hear that, RE … I suppose you could send it to Ricoh for a repair - but they have a standing fee of $179 in order to even LOOK at a Pentax DSLR, now …

Glad that KP seems to be working out for you, in the Low Light Department …

I have a Vivitar 5600 with a Pentax base, as well as a Canon base, and a Nikon base … works out, neat!!!

They ARE pretty robust, aren't they, Gal? … The K-50, of course - has a steel frame - which can absorb a lot of abuse. It also contributes to an uncompromising sense of heft. Whenever I pick it up, I am constantly assured by its feel in my hand. I don't get that same kind of assurance from most of my other DSLRs.

I had a Pentax 35mm in the 80's and 90's, can't remember the long lens size. Mostly I use the 50mm lens. In 2006 I bought a Pentax DSLR, I forget the model number - it was a 6 mb camera. I later bought a k-20 and am now using a K-5 and K-5II. One with a 150-450 lens the other with a Sigma 18-250. I have been pleased with all of the Pentax cameras I've owned. In fact, I tripped on some sharp rocks with the K-5 and it went flying into the rocks. I thought all was lost, but low and behold, the lens (Sigma) and camera were both working fine. A couple of years later I sent it in for cleaning and checking and am still using it.

They are quite sturdy cameras, aren't they, Les? … I also have that Sigma 18-250 OS HSM. How do you use it - with the OS feature, PLUS the IBIS in the K-5 series, Les?

My first SLR was the Pentax Auto 110, which led to using a similar format (micro four thirds) with digital.
I now have a K1000 and a ME in my collection along with some PK / M42 lenses and adapters.
I also have the Q10 for using with C mount lenses.

Do you also have an adapter allowing you to use the 'Auto 110' lenses on your Q-10?

Yes, Chris. I meant K-70.
Planning to use it on my trip to Europe in September.

Incidentally, Ricoh is preparing to celebrate in November the 100th anniversary of Asahi Optical Company, the company which eventually became Pentax.

I thought about getting the K-70, Keen - after my beloved K-50 fell to the floor (in its bag) and has since gone screwy. … How's that one working out for you? … Do you USE the Pixel-Shift feature in it, Keen?

Are the outside ones both KPs, RE - as well as the top one? … If not - which models are they? Do you know?
