I shot this in the car wash diner (yes, I know, very American. It's a cafe, but the sign definitely says diner!).
Anyway, the two little chaps were sitting on the window sill. Took them home (digitally) and opened in Ps together with a sunset sky from our dog walk a couple of evenings ago. Made a copy layer of the livestock and, with both copies sitting on top of the sunset, working on the top copy, I chose 'select, colour range' and picked the highlights. Created a layer mask, inverted it, set the layer to Multiply and reduced opacity to taste. Added the wall to the layer mask to improve clarity. Next, I added a layer mask to the lower copy and masked-off the window to let the sunset sky come through more. Then, took it back to Lr and, using the spot removal tool, INSERTED the missing hedgehog eye. It's a useful tool at times. Some selective luminosity adjustments to put the colours where I wanted them and the job was pretty much done.
You may find all this a tad boring - and the result less than worthwhile but it only took a few moments and revived my pre-holiday spirits! Let me know what you think please, I always appreciate critique.
It's very charming! Thanks so much for sharing your process. Did you mean revive your
post-holiday spirits? I thought you had already been on an extended holiday

No, we are due a couple of weeks in (according to the long range forecast, a very wet) Yorkshire. Not been over-excited about that but you never know what photo ops will turn up do you? This exercise cheered me enough to think on the positive side of wet dreary landscapes!
Deeply weird, and totally enjoyable.

Now what can be deeply weird about an ugly hedgehog Bob? Perhaps you should claim the fifth rather than answer!
Sometimes an image will come from the most unlucky places. Good to keep our eyes open for the unexpected. Nice PP wok

Exactly, you just never know what’s going to turn up.
Thanks for commenting Frank.
I always appreciate it when an OP takes the time to discuss their techniques - especially since that is what this Section is all about!! Interesting and a bit creepy all at once - well done!

I agree Tommy - and have been pleased to see some others doing it. We can’t know all the tricks, so it’s often helpful and always interesting to see how folk go about their pp. Glad you enjoyed this one and thanks for commenting.
