I have been experimenting to find the best hummingbird lens. They all work!
Your hummers are second to none. The clearest I have ever seen.
Thanks for sharing them.

Thank you. For the past few days I have been trying to determine the best lens to use for this. As of today the best lens I have found to do this with is a cz 85mm f/1.4. I'll know more after process the batch I took today. You can read and read the theory but experimenting with various lenses is the only way to know what really works. I happen to own a lot of lenses and I'm narrowing it down.
The ones I took today blew away my previous attempts. I'll post them on a different thread latter today. Tomorrow I want to try a Sony 100mm f/2.8, just for the sake of completeness. I'm the recognized hummingbird champ at my local camera club. I have been asked to give a talk about how I photograph hummers. This talk will not happen until next year and I'm preparing for it now. Fully understanding ones camera helps a lot! I seem to keep learning new things.
Thanks for the reply, Dave. I may have to get rid of P900 for a dslr or go back to film with my F2. I used to do a lot of "experimental" projects and miss it. You have put a lot of effort into your hummer setup and it has paid off in spades. Keep'em coming.

I wish we had these in the UK!
Really great shot. Would like to know camera setting for flash and shutter speed. Congrats on your capture.
