Some kind of parasitic wasp?

Could someone ID this admittedly poor capture of what I think is a wasp? I took a quick shot & reset the camera for the shadows & then of course it was gone.

Family Ichneumonidae. A male(?).
As far as I can go.
Huge family.

Looking deeper, possibility of Ophion sp.
If so, 100's, and all look similar.
Goodnight.

Send it to the big dogs: https://bugguide.net/
These folks are as interesting as they are helpful --and that's a lot.

I have a long list of photos on there. I doubt they could do any better than Bill. The photo is not good enough. It would end up in the frass pile.
Bill is right. It is an Ichneumon wasp. I had never seen a male before & the lack of that long ovipositor threw me.

Thanks for the compliments.
Been at this 50 or so years. Mostly beetles.
One cannot ID An insect successfully one regular basis.
A few pages from one of my BASIC entomology text show the critical details.
Enjoy the lesson. No test upcoming.

I just received Garrison's Damselfly Genera of the New World & and am anxiously awaiting Dragonfly Genera of the New World. These sure go where my Oregon & West Coast field guides don't. I see I'm going to have to keep the net handy because I rarely can get all the photos needed of any one specimen for a proper ID. My best guess for now, or correctly from an expert.

A bit different with dragonflies. You can see parts what you net them.
I have Paulson's Dragonflies and Damselflies of E. US. Just takes me forever.
Enjoy the day.

Late to the party (was out with the camera). It looks to be Ophion, as Bill says. I can only add that the lack of an ovipositor indicates that this is a male.
