Went into my garage this morning ...
The emergency release on a garage door opener hangs down in the door opening and is red in color. Makes the garage a big trap for hummers. Cover the red portion with black electrical tape to fix the problem.

Question is --how did it get in there?
The doors and windows are usually open all day. Flying through is the shortest distance between my feeder and the bird bath. All kinds of birds pass through from time to time.

Good Morning.
Thank You all for the kind words.

A friend of mine had a red car and always had the garage door open. The hummers would comstantly come into garage, wouldn't leave and get trapped. He finally had to start keeping the door closed.
Thanks for saving the little guy.......and you photos are your payment for a kind deed.

I concur. Nice start to the morning. Now, back to painting...
What an adventure for you and the Hummer. Good thing you had the feeder handy, and good thing she found her way out. Cute pics too.

Great story and wonderful shots.
Years ago, after finding two that didn't find their way back out of our garage, I learned the trick of taping over the red emergency release fob on the garage door openers.
I appreciate the nice comment and the suggestion to cover the red handle.
Have a Happy Fourth of July everybody.
