NIKON 28-300 I doubt he use this lens to produce any prints in his gallery. It sounds like he is telling us that it is all we need.

Ya just never know....I bought an older Tamron 18-270 from a lady that has a gallery in San Diego, she claimed many of the shots on her gallery web site were made with the Tamron. It was jammed and needed repair. She wanted to buy it back (probably should have sold it back to her) said she might buy the newer version, as she liked and used the lens a lot. I think it is pretty decent, fixed at no cost, I use it sometimes, not my sharpest lens, but it makes good images. I've heard some good comments about the Nikon 28-300, supposed to be better than the 18-300, but I don't have either.

Perhaps, par4, but at least it was in his lexicon. Why even mention an "inferior" lens? He's a super professional photographer. That he would even recommend the 28-300 speaks volumes.

Heck, it'd take golf shots from tee to green!!!

My wife and I have several 20x30 framed Mengelson prints. They dominate our living room "decor". There is the wolf, grizzly bear, owl, moose and a polar bear family. In a perfect world, my prints would dominate our living room! But, I've not spent a lifetime freezing my ass off to get the shots.

I think that one of the lessons to learn from Mengelson's work is that focus sharpness is critical but lens sharpness takes second place to composition. If you get too close, there can be a lack of "sharpness". From a normal distance, not one of Megelson's pictures will ever look less than sharp!

Go to his galleries. It will be a near religious experience.
