Do you weep for the auto insurance companies which will largely be eliminated if self driving cars become standard?

Oops! You conveniently left out the funding part. Minor detail, I know.

BTW, fraud helps this part of the equation....

"it has reaped cash benefits to hospitals, insurance companies, doctors, pharm companies and a host of manufacturers of supplies and equipment used by these folks. "

Kinda like the $400.00 toilet seat and the $200.00 hammers we buy for the defense dept.

Accidents will be substantially reduced with self driving cars - most predictions are over 90% reduction. Medicare payments are the standard for the industry and are followed closely by health insurers to set their own payments. {Full disclosure - I am a medical doctor in active practice}. Medicare, incidentally, is a transfer tax with current workers paying for the retired. There is no "Medicare Fund". The retired get benefits but have to pay a supplement as Medicare only works for those who pay in after they become eligible. As the pool of workers diminishes and the number of retired increases, the pay in will diminish over time. Reagan recognized this and authorized a substantial increase in the Medicare tax. The tax has not increased since and the day of reckoning is approaching as Congress continues to kick this financial can down the road to be picked up by Congresses of the near future.

So, I guess by your own admission, you've cut a fat hog off Medicare like my parents doctor did when he had them coming in on a monthly basis. I finally decided to go in with my dad after my mom passed to see what was going on. The waiting room was wall to wall seniors and there was a life sized cut out of Hillary Clinton standing in the corner. He, the doctor, was reluctant to let me in the exam room with my dad and I found out why. He literally touched his back with the stethoscope and said "that would be all, see you next month" "NEXT"! My guess is he's your kind of guy.

Free college! Free money! Free medical! That sounds great but the doctors and nurses still need to be paid. The college professors need to be paid. The colleges and universities still need upkeep and will still have to pay for electricity, water etc.

Where will this money come from? I guess the government will supply it.

Where will the government get it’s money? I guess it will come from taxes. Who will pay taxes? I guess we, the citizens will pay our taxes at a higher rate.

I think it will cost more over the lifespan of the taxpayers. In the long run, that would make college more expensive.

If everyone got a college degree, there would be fewer plumbers, carpenters, electricians etc.

I can’t figure out how that would make college free.

I just thought that with higher taxes, farmers and ranchers will have to charge more for their product. Auto workers and auto mechanics will have to charge more for their products and services.

The same thing would hold true for oil field workers. The price of a gallon of gas would skyrocket.

Darn, I can’t think of any service or product that would not cost more except college.

There’s no money in medicine. Only in treatment.

Frankly offensive cartoon. I don't know a doctor who doesn't cheer for a cure each time. Perhaps you have spent too much time with naturopaths and chiropractors. Where will you go when you have your next serious illness? I wouldn't lead with this cartoon.

That’s funny, the two professions you are criticizing are the two that helped me with my medical issues whereas the traditional physicians could not, or at least did not.

Thank you for confirming my suspicions. I have some chiropractors and naturopaths in my practice who come to me when they actually get a problem.

Funny thing. A doctor in NY cured a man’s Parkinson’s after a year or so treatment. He took the evidence in and was shit on by peers. They refused to listen.

Ya, I am sure that might be the case in some situations, this does not disqualify my experience with Naturopaths or Chiropractors, each one has their place and can work in conjunction with one another if necessarily. So why did you find it necessarily to criticize the other two professions as if they are unqualified to make medical diagnoses or treatments? This is in no way confirms your pathetic suspicions as you claimed, it makes it questionable. Oh I just realized something about you, you are not really a typical medical physician, you are an eye doctor.

Consider the placebo effect. I wish you only the best of health and never a need to seek medical care which seems to be your goal.

As for the doctor in NY curing Parkinson's, with just a tiny bit of searching you can find a cure for almost anything that someone will advertise. When you read there accounts the boiler plate is "doctors are astounded and refuse to accept my miracle cure". You can be assured that if a true cure (not one anecdotal account) for any disease is discovered, the discoverer will become rich and doctors around the world will adopt the cure instantly.

I wish nobody ever had the need to seek medical attention and are always healthy.

I seek medical care when ever it is necessary whether it’s a conventional physician or an Integrative Naturopathic doctor.
