Is there anyone who can recommend a shop that develops and scans B&W and color slide film, 35mm and 120, producing high resolution scans (>~15 Mpix)? I've decided to give film another go. I'd prefer a place in the Boston area, or at least on the east coast. I can find shops on Google of course, but here I'm asking for the experience of UHHers.

I cannot understand why people want to shoot film just to scan it later. Why not stick to all digital? Or get an enlarger to print the negatives properly.

Why does it matter that you don’t understand? Is someone making you shoot film?

if i was going to shoot films , i would do B/W and process them myself , not hard to do .on the other hand in color do slides , so you can view them on a viewer or projector . never tried to take a digital picture of a photo from a screen / projector .

Several sources were provided with a simple online search.

There are many more out there and a diligent online search will reveal them.

I’m really looking for recommendations from people who have actually used such services (I can search the web myself).

The Darkroom. Good service, good prices and now, the only one I use.

Agree. The Darkroom is my go to lab but it’s in CA - and the OP requested East Coast labs which is why I recommended Old School Photo aka Photosmith. I have used both for C41 color, E6 color (slides) and B&W and both are very good. Do NOT use your local drug store (read Walgreens)— the scans are low def and they DO NOT return (read THEY TRASH) your negatives!

If you want it done right, do it yourself.

Film hangers $13 https://www.ebay.com/itm/eight-2-Studio-Clip-stainless-steel-Film-Hangers-suitable-for-35mm-120-220/233192894117?hash=item364b612ea5:g:AoIAAOSwx8Fc7dvS:sc:USPSFirstClass!32656!US!-1

Add chemicals appropriate to the film you are shooting.
Do a Google search for: "how to develop film at home"
Too many options for scanning. Google it.

Perhaps OP does not have a digital camera, and/or, does not have a facility to build a darkroom. I'm lucky, I have both, and use both. So , does that upset you also??
