I watched Phil Steele's video earlier and that is what got me interested but when I looked it up on Amazon I read the reviews and it is almost 50/50 from the best to locks up, won't open photos, slow, on and on against. I went to Skylum site and saw something not upfront on any review and that is required OS is I5 or above. My laptop is only I3, maybe pass on this. I did see that they just came out with an upgrade to 3.1.1. No info on that yet.
Definitely you should try a free trial before buying to be sure it runs. I have had good results with it, but I'm using it only as a plugin to LR or PS, not as freestanding application. Its results can get pretty extreme so it requires a light touch. But it's a pretty thorough program for the price.
When you are referring to your OS, are you meaning the OS or the processor? (confused about the I's in your description, which I think usually pertain to processor rather than OS). My OS is 10.13.6 and it runs well on that, with an i7 processor.

What a great opportunity for you to justify getting a new computer!
I use Luminar 3.1.1 on Win 10 PRO on my desktop and laptop. Works just fine. Both have i7 processors.
Enjoy,

Does anyone use Lumina 3? I saw a video on it and it looks good for a stand alone program but some of the reviews are not the best. Didn't know if some people are not fully up on using it or is there a problem with it? Thank you.
Watch the video again. It's Luminar 3. Add me to the chorus of voices that use and like Luminar 3.
On old iMac running high sierra. I've been using their software since the old Macphun plugin days. They used to be just a fun way to overcook images but with Luminar 3 they are a serious product. It's never crashed in my usage. I just shot a couple of thousand images on a road trip thru National Parks in Arizona, Utah, and Colorado. My normal go-to pp software is On1 but I decided to try both Apple photos with the plugin and luminar as a standalone. For a majority of my shots, especially those taken in raw with my iPhone Xr, Luminar was the fastest to get quick well processed images using both the image and sky A I filters judicially . I could get similar results using On1 or LightRoom but with a lot more effort .

Yes, I purchased "Luminar3" about 3 months ago. I really like it. It has the capability, (features), to do a quick and simple edit or you can get down and do a real in depth edit, changing every aspect of your image, and either way, you come out with a beautifully edited image. In my humble opinion.

I use Luminar 3 which I believe you are referring to. I like it for its speed, accuracy, ease of use, cost and it is simply fun to use. It is the speed & fun factor that won me over. Give it a free try-out and see if it works for you...
Cheers!

Don't except any support or customer service from them I had questions after questions and their reply was always the same..........send me a screen shot.
I really hate it when you need service that you can't talk to a person.
Interestingly enough, I have enjoyed excellent and speedy assistance from Skylum. Hmmm.
Cheers!
I started out with Luminar 2018 and was very satisfied with it. When they offered a free upgrade to Luminar 3, I jumped at it. On first start, it did create the catalog, and It found lots of images that were in sub-folders that I hadn't seen for years. The first copy was buggy, but after 3 or 4 updates, it seems much more stable. I now have Version 3.1.1.3300 Now I use it a lot. Sometimes as a stand-alone and sometimes as a plugin.

I have and use Luminar 3.1 and I like it. I don't have any real issues with it except that it is a bit slow. I expected it to be slow since I am using it on a 2013 computer running Windows 8.1 and I only have 6 gig of Ram. I also have and regularly use ON1 Photo RAW 2019.5 and Affinity Photo 1.7. Both of these run fine for me too. Probably the bigest problem I have seen in Luminar 3 is the Library module. If you have a let of pictures in it the program can take quite a while starting up. I don't use the Library function so I don't have to worry about it.
When you refer to I3 and I5, I assume you are referring to the Intel processor and not the "OS." Am i correct or are you referring to some Mac OS with which I am not familiar?

I tried it and my friend Bob tried it. Neither of us could get the program to run on our Windows 10 machines.
I too had no luck and when I could get to work the results were not as advertised. Sent it back.
I have given up on it. Won't run on my PC
I found that Luminar was a good program, and its successor Luminar 2018 to be even better.
However the current iteration, Luminar 3 (currently version 3.1.1) runs slowly especially at start up (I think because of the added image catalog function "Image Gallery"), has been a bit buggy, and crashes intermittently. Luminar 3 is therefore not my image editor of choice. If I do want to try one or more of Luminar's unique features on an image, for example the Accent AI Filter, I will use Luminar 2018 rather than Luminar 3.
I have just been back into my copy of Luminar 3 and while it's counter-intuitive in lots of ways (well it is to me!) I find it quite powerful. I shall stick with it. (Apple iMAC Mojave V 10.14.5)
Also I have started to use Aurora HDR 2019 that appears pretty good. I'll try and post a photograph that I have finished editing.
