Hello Everyone.
I’m new to the forum.
I’m asking for advice you might have on what magazine subscription I may look into. I’m looking for something to gain more knowledge on a bit beyond the fundamentals.
I am not a professional photographer.
I shoot with a Nikon D750. I have a kit lens AFS Nikkor 24-120/f4 VR and I’m purchasing a 50 mm prime soon.
I’m interested in existing light scenes.
Thank you for your help.

Go to the biggest book store you can find. Maybe a Barnes and Noble. The remaining viable magazines will be on display. The rest have gone broke because of the internet.

This may or may not interest you. This online photography subscription has several contributors who give you ideas, inspiration, tech information, and sometimes spotlight a subscriber and their photos as well. You get about 3 emails a week on different subjects from different contributors. Check it out here:

Another option for you (and yes, I have a couple of crates of Photo Mags from past days in the box room)

The best photo magazines come from the UK in my opinion. I have a subscription to Practical Photography which I discovered at BooksAmillion. I think I paid about $80 for a one year subscription, but I think it is well worth it.

There are other quality magazines. Digital Camera World and NPhoto are two.

Good luck with those. I wish I could afford all three.

Check out "N Photo" -- a UK Nikon focused magazine. You can get a digital subscription on an iPad or kindle.
You can also order physical subscription... it a little pricey, but pretty good and focused content.

I peruse the magazine section at B&N at least once a week. I find most of them more ads then factual well written content. I personally get Outdoor Photography and find the articles a step above most rags and as a primary landscape photog.

I get a bigger bang out of section in B&N with books on photography. Most Books on Photography are $30-60. I don't mind the price but I will read some or all of the books on the shelf. Not being cheap but if I find the book valuable(written and technically) I will purchase the book. Unlike a novel, there is no ending and full of data for reference. Sadly, but most of the people that write these books may have command of technical stuff but suck at getting it across. FWIW, I find Scott Kelby books excellent! So are his videos on youtue.

I subscribe to two British publications: Practical Photography and Nphoto, which is devoted solely to Nikon. They are expensive, but if you can afford them, they are well worth the money. I read them cover to cover, and view the CDs that come with them. There are a whole host of other British magazines, such as Digital Photographer, Digital Camera, and one devoted just to Canon users, as well as magazines specializing in Photoshop. Any one of them is well worth the investment as opposed to the insipid crap that is published in the USA.

Magazines cater to their advertisers' delight, and not much more. A better source might be Bryan Carnathan's "the-digital-picture.com". The site primarily is dedicated towards testing new gear but it also offers very good information on "how-to" tips. He combines "tech" with "application" when he offers analysis of gear and how to use it. Very thorough with Canon, Nikon, and Sony reviews as well as others. This site is one of the better learning tools available. Far better than any magazine, and NO sales pitches! Read about your body and two lenses here and you will know more afterwards than you did before, lots more.

Welcome to the Hog, Coresoil!

I’m going to give you a half-hearted recommendation, because the magazine I subscribe to,
Outdoor Photographer, used to be great, in my humble opinion. As I understand it, several Hogs used to subscribe to it as well, but with competition from the internet (and despite its having a website,) they evidently lost advertising with the resultant consequence of its paper copies becoming progressively thinner. This was discussed here on UHH last fall, with the general sentiment being that most had either dropped or not renew their respective subscriptions.

So I, too, reviewed the issues received from the first half of 2018, which along with the price increase led me to decide not to renew my annual subscription through EBSCO. But then, to my mild surprise, the monthly issues just kept coming anyway, including the July "National Parks" issue. I surmise that OP now just wants to keep their circulation numbers up. So now I’m still enjoying this magazine.

The magazine still is pretty decent, though it doesn’t, in general, have the same overall caliber of contributing writers present. Among their previous contributors was the late Galen Rowell. He wrote several books on outdoor photography. One in particular that might interest you, as it is a collection of his columns up to ~2000 (he died in 2002,) is reviewed here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/161622.Galen_Rowell_s_Inner_Game_of_Outdoor_Photography

Not a magazine, but you might want to consider Bryan Peterson's book, "Understanding Exposure". I'm no expert on photography books but it sure helped get me off to a flying start.
