Thank you again everyone for your comments. Really not looking for a pat on the back, although greatly appreciated. Just wanted to bring attention to some of the living conditions on these Native American Reservations. As far as raising a big family, family is important to them and many live in family camps as does this family, so they do have support from other members of the camp. There are about 6 families in this family camp.

I understand the concept of families. What support from the other 6 families in the stated family camp did they have in their living conditions? That support came from a bunch of guys from Pennsylvania. That level of sharing gave both parties great joy. Given the economic hardship, how can they afford to raise all these children?
I think the greater level of attention should be focused on educating the children so they can have the choice to continue their lives there or improve upon their life situation. Otherwise, there will be no change. Those six children multiplied by how many others will, in turn, have children that cannot be supported by themselves or within any group environment. Personal responsibility and education have to be the direction otherwise your children and grandchildren will be in your shoes for the unforeseeable future.

There are 10's of thousands of native Americans in the same boat here in the southwest.
Government officials don't seem to care, or they but money in to a corrupt bunch that
should be used to help with water and electricity. Housing is terrible for them and some walk
5 hours for water.

This past fall, we received word that there was a young Navajo family in drastic need of there house being weathered in. You could sit inside and look to the outside through the roof and side walls. For those who have never been out on the Reservation, the winter is very cold and windy and not much protection. Our team went out in late April to get them weathered in. Another team went out in May to work on the inside. They had no electric or running water which is the case for about 56% of those on the reservation. We couldn't do anything about the water but did get electricity to them and a new metal roof and also wrapped the house and put new T-111 siding on. This is a family of 7 with another one on the way. The house is less than 400 sq. ft.. Here are a few before and after photos.

You let some sun light into the lives of the members of the family. I am certain that the joy that they felt was shared by the volunteers who helped in this transformation.

I'm thrilled to see Churches do this type of work, Kerry. What you have done will change the quality of life for 7, now 8 individuals.
