Democrats do not care about veterans, the poor, the mentally ill, or ANY US citizen. They care about money and power. Why do the people in their districts keep electing them???
Over here, it's both. Both sides say and do the same things, but cite different reasons.
We've had whole cities petition and protest, until a favorable ruling was made.
LEOs would do DUI checks. Seatbelt checks,. Proper paper checks. Whatever- roadblocks and inspections.
They'd find a large percentage of illegals with bad, improper, or ven no paperwork.
Standard procedure- impound the car until a registered licensed owner showed up with insurance papers.
Those caught would tell and call their friends, and they'd also avoid those areas, stay off the streets.
Which meant that a lot of entry level and blue collar jobs didn't get done. A lot of businesses lost money.
so they passed a ruling. Since the concept of "innocence until proven guilty" was brought up, if you supplied a reasonable reason why you were driving this POS with no paperwork for either of you, you'd just get a warning. Actually the car would get the warning- in some beach cities you could get a 30 day warning to process the POS paperwork properly. You then had another 30 days allowance before they'd start looking for you.

ANYway, here it's bass ackward.
George Bush and Pete Wilson gutted VA benefits. At any time 20 to 50% of the homeless in LA are veterans. The disabled veterans have to make an appointment that may take months- until then they may not "legally" show any income. Betwixt the time they left and the time they returned, most of their friends and family have moved- and there's no place to go when you're only an American citizen that don't have any money.

This is California- a lot of whackos come here all the time, dreaming of the Endless Summer, and the joy and wonder of being a beach bum or a city hippy. Ain't happening. We had whole campus like services, that provided food, shelter, rehab, job training, and therapy for those "differently conscienced" than us. After a short time those not violent would be successfully transitioned into mainstream society. These entire systems were removed, overnight. Everybody out. Unless you're a whacko who committed a violent crime you're just not there. Like attracts like, so all these folk congregate in dowtown or the homeless encampments.
AS SOON AS you cross the border, you are an "economic refugee", and both Red and Blue will fight to make sure you get all the benefits they say you're entitled to. Most "real" Americans are too proud or don't know, so they don't apply. And as a normal American citizen, you will not qualify for any of those same benefits.
