This is the 5th in a series of posts using photos from a recent 6+ week trip I took around the Western US & Canada, with a college buddy Chuck & my Australian Shepherd Gem, aka "the Mutt." I want to thank all who have looked at the first 4 parts & commented.
I ended Post # 4 in Williams, AZ on Rt 66 where we stayed while touring the Grand Canyon for the next few days. Our original plan was to go to the North Rim, however it was closed due to snow. So instead, we spent our time touring the So. Rim & thoroughly enjoying ourselves. I was struck when we first got to the canyon, that no matter how many times I go there, it always seems "grander" than the last time. We started out with a late afternoon, early evening shoot ... which turned into a night shoot.
As an aside, after seeing some posts on UHH, I had purchased a crystal ball in order to try to shoot a sunrise at the canyon ... the sunrise wasn't very colorful, so the most "exciting" part was seeing someone next to me accidentally bump the tripod the crystal was sitting on & watching it roll off the tripod (seemingly in slow motion) ... hit the edge with a fine spray a fragments "sparkling" in the sun ... & then bouncing down into the canyon!!! So much for that experiment. ;)
From there, it was North to Grand Staircase/Escalante Nat'l Park ... a park I had never visited & it was another beautiful jewel of a park. While there, we took a day to revisit Bryce Canyon (we'd spent several days there in 2016) ... it was just too close & too beautiful not to stop for a quick visit.
We shot a great sunset at the Sunset Arch & ended our stay in Escalante enjoying a sun set at the Devils Garden ... a beautiful spot with what I believe are called "hoodoos".
I hope you enjoy these,
Frank
Grand Canyon Nat'l Park, night shot with a very bright moon behind us making the stars hard to see. Not a great shot ... a bit grainy for my taste which I tried to tone down ... however the canyon itself was beautiful in the soft moon light.

Grand Canyon Nat'l Park the following morning when we tried to catch a sunrise. It didn't materialize as brightly as hoped, but still a beautiful scene.

Grand Staircase/Escalante Nat'l Park, a shot of a mountain I thought was quite striking ... I'm not sure, but believe it may be Canaan Peak(?)

Grand Staircase/Escalante Nat'l Park, the best shot I got of the sunset at Sunset Arch, however, in all candor, my buddy Chuck was near the middle & looked down at his camera when I took it!!!! So I elected to edit him out in PS.

Terrific set of pics. Thanks.
Thank you again RichardTaylor for taking a look at the photos & the comments. It always amazes me that UHH has people from such widely scattered geographies ... someday, I hope to visit Australia.
And thank you Beowulf for looking & for your comment as well.

Very nice tour, Frank!
I appreciate the comment Mike ... as always. Best to you.
I like them all, well...maybe not so much for the first one. I'm still trying to decide. Great job!

Thanks Chief ... appreciate the feedback as always. And fair enough comment on the 1st one ... I included it even though I wasn't totally taken with it because I liked the look of the canyon under moonlight. But when I compare it to some night sky photos I took in the Tetons later in the trip (the Milky Way over the Mormon Barn) ... then the 1st shot isn't close to being what I would like it to be or how those came out.
Great Series! Bryce is my favorite and you captured it!

Thanks Dave327 ... I have to say Bryce is 1 of my favorites ... I stumbled upon Capital Reef after we left Escalante ... & it might be the most beautiful of the Nat'l Parks ... I probably shouldn't say that on a public forum ... because the crowds aren't as bad there as other places. But you are right about Bryce being special. And thanks for taking a look & for the positive feedback. I appreciate it.
Thank you for looking & the comments J-SPEIGHT, chippy65 & nimbushopper ... they are much appreciated.
And thanks also to you jaymatt for the thumbs-up. Appreciate that as well.
