All working fine now though. I will wait to see what bugs are in CS6 before I jump in. :)
Don't even jump onto their hoops, as long as the stuff works for you why upgrade at all? I have software that is almost 18 years old that I still use!
As for OS I jumped from WFWG (windows 3.11 for those who have no idea - rightly so) to XP just when they came out with windows 2000! I am on Windows 7 only since last year when I built this monster.

It is on CS5 already!!!!
If we're talking about panoramic, I believe that has been around since CS2. I've had all versions since CS2.
Yes I agree the tech world is getting hard to keep up with. But, we only have once life, so live it, don't stress it.
Remember some of the very best memorable shots were taken pre digital and pre computer.

I recall the days of W3.1. Microsoft Office had 24 diskettes to install. Before that . . . the amber characters of DOS :( . . . command prompts. <shiver> . . . Worked with Win 95 & 98, Millenium, XP, Vista and now 7. No real problems with any of them.
Bells and whistles are not always what you want. What looks great on the outside doesn't make it for your needs as discussed earlier in this thread.
I am a screen printer and have coral draw 12 for only one purpose. For those who send me a version newer then what I use. What do I use and it is all I need for my screen print work. Coral draw 4! Yes and I have to use it on a w/95 system. See that newer Coral is great with all it has for publishing but for my needs is money and more steps.
The just is find what meets your needs and if it isn't broken don't upgrade. Another words, what you have now may be all you need!

Now let see what the differences are....
I guess Adobe CS5 sales have tailed off so they need to release CS6.
Its no wonder it is one of the most pirated software.
They claim that is why it is so expensive. If it were priced right they would sell a lot more.

Being an old guy there is much to learn with all this. I jumped from 2 to CS5-- I think that will hold me for awhile. I recently found out some of these 'so called upgrades', are not what they should be. A recent one from Apple crashed my Aperture for over two weeks. I might be wrong, but I don't believe they ever REALLY owned up to it. All working fine now though. I will wait to see what bugs are in CS6 before I jump in. :)
Please keep us informed, I used the trial version, and still deciding about the new versions.
I have the original floppy disk set for version 3.5. Wow has the program grown.

I've got a number of gripes about Adobe's pricing. Buy a Creative Suite, then you have to upgrade the full suite, you can't upgrade individual programs. Buy one program, you get nothing off the price if your version is too far back. I've got old copies of Illustrator and Photoshop, current version of InDesign. Getting the full suite upgraded would cost about $1,000.
Photoshop CS2 and InDesign 5 do me fine. Inkscape (free) does the limited work I need an Illustrator-like program for. I've got an old Mac with Freehand 8, which I always liked better than Illustrator anyway.
End of rantlet.
I've got a number of gripes about Adobe's pricing.... (
show quote)
I had been using Photoshop 7 all these years until that computer finally gave up the ghost. I tried installing it on my new Windows 7 computer, but it wouldn't work.
An upgrade to CS5 wasn't available, so I called Adobe directly. Pointed out that I've been a user of Photoshop, PageMaker, InDesign, etc., and I even had all the serial numbers. They upgraded me to CS5 for the upgrade price.
That's customer service, and that's how a company keeps it's customers in the fold and satisfied.
i still use ps 6 and ps elements 6 and works just fine
Unless it comes with someone to work with me and teach me the new features it will just have to wait until I hit the lottery.
