My favorite trans Sierra passes will soon be open for me to visit beautiful east Sierra spots along Highway 395. These were taken last fall and I held off posting them because I wasn't sure I liked the effect of the smoky air., but I have grown to like them. Posting them may push me to get back over the mountains sooner! In order, these were taken north, west, east and south of beautiful Bridgeport Ca. The third shot was from Travertine Hot Springs, overlooking Bridgeport. These might look a little better in download.

excellent set, phil. the last shot is just divine....love the pretty colors and composition, and especially
the herd of cows.

Great set! Is the second one on the June Lake Loop? I love that area too, especially the drive up over Sonora Pass and then Tioga Pass to Tuolumne Meadows. I'm going to try to get there soon.

The second shot is on the Twin Lakes Road west of Bridgeport but the June and Gull Lake Loop and the Mammoth Lakes with thier steep East Sierra backgrounds are equally beautiful. The Tioga-Sonora Pass loop is great way to get to and from the East Sierra from our area. I also try and use Ebbetts/Monitor and Sonora Passes each year. These seasonal passes slow us down, show us great beauty and cause us to give a thought to what a "thing" it is to actually make a trans Sierra Nevada crossing. Thanks for the visit DJ, Happy crossings! Phil

Thanks for the information rockdog. I'll check out Twin Lakes the next time I go to the area. How is the road into Twin Lakes? I just checked and Sonora Pass is open, but Tioga is still closed.

These are all excellent, Phil. Beautiful scenery and color. As a flat-lander, I am always impressed by mountain scenes.

Well you got close on you recent trip west. How about a trip to the left coast and the Sierras? Thanks for the visit Carol.
