I was there last summer. Very interesting to see how they live. Basically without electricity, and running water. Keni, your shot was a joy to work on. I added the dog. BTW he is a resident of that Pueblo. I photographed him when I was there. That dog would lumber around and than plop himself down where ever he felt like it.

I like the sepia look. It's great that you added the dog. I didn't get a shot of him but I was thinking if I were to submit this one I would have composited in a dog.

That is really pretty. It adds a softness to it that I like.

I too felt this image was good to begin with. It just needed a bit of pop to bring it to life. I brought up the shaded areas, slightly saturated the turquoise and natural door frames and brought a little more green to the background hill side. It was a fun shot to work with.

Taos Pueblo, thought to be one of the longest continually inhabited communities in the US was built by the Northern Tiwa tribe between 1000 and 1450 AD. It sits at the foot of the Sangre De Christo mountains. These buildings are all made the traditional way of adobe. About 180 tribe members live there year round while another 1800 more live on the adjacent pueblo lands. Sections of the pueblo are open to the public and native artists sell hand made jewelry, artwork, drums, and native food. We were lucky enough to be in the drum shop when the drum maker played a huge drum made from what must have been a very old tree, covered with treated animal hide and hung from the ceiling. I am 5 ft 10 in and the drum was taller than I am. It resonated down to your bones. Just an incredible experience. If you would like to learn more about Taos Pueblo here is a link to its history.

This was started with basics like level & tilt then slight color adjustments, the usuals. Then details were added for interest.

Very nice Carol! I like how you brought out the colors in the doors.

Since we can enter up to 2 images, I decided to try a vintage B&W film treatment. Just for fun.

In this version I tried to bring out that look of the south west. Bright, clear, hot, and sometimes dusty. Other than that no fun stuff. but I love New Mexico and this is an attempt at 'homage'

Here's a monochrome conversion (via Silver Efex) and some added texture. Sort of an old-time vibe.
