I'm reluctant to use tele-extenders. Especially on zooms. Would never even consider more than a 1.4X. There has never been a tele-extender built that improves the optics of a good lens, or a poor lens, for that matter

At lest you got a pension. They’re rare in the private sector in the US.

That's because you're expected to look out for yourself in the U.S. Plenty of opportunity for retirement options if you look for them and have a little discipline.

Couldn't say no ! It has very minor cosmetic damage but optic fine ,got it off eBay inc of P&P for £130 !!!
Only taken a handful to date ,but by Christ this looks very much like a keeper,it's 380 mm on my d7100'and with Kenko pro 300 on as well it will be ( not tried that yet ) a massive 760 mm equivalent !!!
Any body use one of these ?
Graham

Graham, the 2X Kenko extender should do well. I use my Nikkor 80-200mm f2.8 D with the newer Nikon 2x extender to give me 600mm of reach on a D500 with good results

No TC used on my Owl shots, just the 80-200. Plus My only AF TC is a Kenko 1.4x.

Graham, the Bald Eagle, our national emblem in US, was photographed with the same lens as yours but with
a NikonAF-S teleconverter TC-20EIII. From what I read, Kinko makes a good teleconverter. I have a set of Kinko extension tubes for close up work and their construction quality impressed me. If I were buying a third party teleconverter, it would be Kinko. Get out and practice on the birds in your area.
Have fun,

George

You didn't Mention that Part.

So do the Best you can with your Pension in Buying the Cameras & Equipment that you Want or Need!
