I knew it would happen to Win 7...
windows XP is the best ever

Yea, I really liked XP a lot.
The only reason I went to 7 was it came on the new computers.
Start10 by Stardock has a menu system for Win 10 that makes the menu system look exactly like Win 7.
IMHO, Win 10 works extremely well, I just absolutely hated the tile system.
For me, Stardock has been a virtually perfect solution, and very much worth small cost.
While on the topic of Stardock, Fences works very well too if you are a person (like me) who ends up with a great many desktop icons.

It WAS a decent OS, like XP (with SP3), 2000, and 98. But any software that is complete is ABANDONED.
My comment is based entirely on security concerns. Once Support stops updates, it is vulnerable to all sorts of nasties. But Win 7 was getting more dangerous due to hardware holes, anyway.
I was happy running Mac OS 10.10.x until 18 months ago. It’s not safe to run that, now, either. My nine year old Mini runs on a two year old OS. When Apple stops security updates, I’ll mothball it or take it off the Internet.
The computer industry moves forward very quickly. A PC or Mac is not a tool we buy once and use for life.
sorry , but i prefer wind 7 , wind 10 is too different .[ have both ] .
SO , that does not keep you from using it .

I won't; I already have it on a laptop and hate the damn thing! What can't progamers learn the principle of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it "?
Win 7 has been running well for years and very few were unhappy with it! Why destroy something unneeded and unwanted?
Thanks for the heads-up. I have both systems currently and will try to get ready for the switch to windows 10 totally now. I did love the W-7 edition and will miss it.
My current windows 10 machine just gave me the BSOD on their last update. Now I have to work with MS IT.

What is a BSOD? Sounds like an overdraft of Windows B. S. which would be typical of a Window fix !

As of January 14, 2020, Microsoft will no longer be supporting Windows 7!
(Two laptops and a desktop.)
It was just a matter of when.
"No longer supporting" does not mean it will stop working. It means that there will no longer be various updates and security updates. How serious this is depends on how much danger you imagine you are in. Nothing more.
Computer experts say you use "unsupported" software at your own risk. You've ALWAYS used software at your own risk. Your web activity, downloading from unknown sources, handling of email attachments etc. determine your risk.
Too bad you missed the boat on a free upgrade to Windows 10 from Microsoft. I went from 7 to 10 this way on multiple computers I own. If you have a spare hard drive, put it in the computer and install Win 10 (same version...Home or Professional) on it and see if your 7 license key works to activate 10. Find someone with the installation media. A knowledgeable user can even make you an installation disc or flash drive.
You CAN even use 10 indefinitely without activating it. Some features won't work, most notably Personalization settings, but you can get used to it before buying it. I think 10 is a fine operating system. Just disable Cortana as much as possible, and change all the default Privacy settings to keep MS and programs from snooping, and it's a very nice nice operating system. Don't be afraid of it.
7 was one of the best, if not the best.

"No longer supporting" does not mean it ... (
show quote)
I DO know it will not stop working, just stop receiving updates.
Bad people will go after the most prevalent software first, higher chances of "getting in".
I'll bet no one is trying to get into XP boxes anymore.
I missed the free upgrade to WIN 10 because I did not, and still don't, want it.
I will get Win 10 or, 11, or 12, ... when I replace each computer.
