Marina at Acton Lake.

30sec, f/22, iso 100, 30mm
Used a 10 stop ND filter to smooth out the water. Composited with a 2nd exposure of the sky from the waterline up to keep the clouds sharper.

Thanks for any suggestions and critique!

Good evening. Okay, I did a little work on your image, to tighten it and bring out more darks. I also removed some fringing on the tree line.

In Adobe Camera Raw, I used the Targeted Adjustment Tool to bring out some more detail in the trees. They seemed too dark and blocky. They remain blocky but have become more apart of the image.

You may wish to consider lifting the midtones for a more expressive image.

I cropped the image for a tighter view of the subject. The layering effect remains in place.

Finally, I removed some fringing where the trees meet the sky. You can this result in the area from the left of the boat mast on the left, where I applied fringe removal. It gives a cleaner look to the meeting of the sky and treetops.

This defringing technique I learned years ago. Its use can prove tedious, although not here, but it improves an image. I can give you the simple instructions if interested.

Another view did exactly what I was thinking. Border patrol is important when framing something up. Try not to have something jutting into the frame.

Thanks for everyone’s advice and suggestions. Looks like some more attention to framing and upping my skills with post processing would really improve things. Stuff to work on!
