Great geography...also great productions, Bob. If we study barns we can see how different areas build them in different fashions depending on weather mostly.

I like the lighting, and textures and the horses in 1.
I like barns, too. Here's a few I've shot recently. The locations are approximate - all were shot while on trips to nowhere with my camera.
Sometimes the bank barn is "overshot", with the upper level cantilevered out 7 or 8 feet to provide shelter over the livestock entrance(es), or other times it may have a shed roof to serve the same purpose, although I don't have a decent photo of such a one.

Also it doesn't have any roof ventilation - perhaps only for larger ones?

Well thank you Pat - should have done that for myself shouldn't I. Now I have to ask why so many don't bother with paint at all (oh, yes, there are some obvious theories)
