Someone posted this question a WHILE ago. I remember seeing the item.
I think it turned out to be a cable holder. (USB cable.)
Don't remember where on the camera it goes. (I don't have that camera.)
But I think it was in the side where the USB port is located.

Edit: See this - https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+use+the+nikon+HDMI/USB+Cable+Clip&tbm=isch&source=iu&ictx=1&fir=CxFa7lCHse2xlM%253A%252C1MmPXxWnZ3coRM%252C_&vet=1&usg=AI4_-kTbBPLKsd-6byLz2Ql-40xm4hZf3Q&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjow7rT3N_iAhURvVkKHfDMB70Q9QEwDXoECAUQCA#imgrc=CxFa7lCHse2xlM:

Check page 298 of your manual.

If for some reason that is not the page. Check the Table of Contents and go to Technical Notes > Other Accessories

I got something like that with my Sony A7Riii. I think it is a cable retainer for when shooting with a monitor, remote cable, mains power etc.

Perhaps he has a life beyond this site and not in sync with events that happened a "WHILE" ago.

Oh geeez... I've heard of this happening before. When the technicians were assembling the camera at the factory, they accidentally left out those parts. They realized it later and included the parts in the box. You will need to disassemble the camera and install those parts. Just kidding! I'm sure Longshadow is correct.

I made a statement because I remembered that it was posted before. More over surprise that it came up again. Not yelling or complaining. But it was not locatable in a search. I wanted to provide a link to the definitive answer.
But since there are no inflections in the written word, you can't tell HOW it was said.
He might have recently joined also (didn't look, don't care).
Regardless, just stating that I saw it before.
Unless I'm supposed to keep my mouth shut, or teach people not to infer incorrectly.
(And yes, I've inferred incorrectly a couple of times.)
I was surprised to see it come up again as I was like "What the heck is that?" when it came up the first time.

Maybe there is a life beyond being hyper-critical or jumping to conclusions.

Thought these were outlawed after the Spanish Inquisition.

Yea. When I first was it a while back, it was like Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is that!

(But it would reduce the stress on the connector.)
