My first posts to this category. I love to take photos of my grandkids doing stuff: soccer, basketball, field trips, etc. This is my oldest-13 years old.

WOW. For the first time these are excellent. Good composure and filled the frame real nice, the more you fill the frame the better the sports photos will look. Post more when you can. Thanks

Don't take this wrong!! I shoot for MaxPrep.com. One of their big things is don't shoot any backs, try and shoot them coming to your are at least from in front from the side. Thanks

On the issue of backs, I feel like this is a good general rule but as with all rules there are exceptions. I shoot pro women's soccer and can say I've gotten maybe 20 or so shots over the 3+ seasons I've been shooting that are backs but are really great shots (either because of emotion or really interesting action/body positioning).

Another rule I try to live by is make sure there's a ball (or at least a part of the ball if you're desperate) in the shot if it's an action shot. It helps the viewer understand better what is going on. So in your second shot where your grandson clearly looks like he's looking at the ball, it would be a better shot if the ball was in it.

I have a cousin who lived there maybe in the 70's. Must be a popular place through the years.

For the first time you did just fine. However like other people have suggested shoot with the ball in the frame. Sometimes you might want to shoot vertical. Your first shot is the best, keep at it and practice a lot. Fill the frame like Tom suggested.

Nice pictures! He appears to play with both feet which is very good for his age. He also wears #10 indicating that he might be the most skillful player on the team...and making Pele very proud!
