Eastern Towhee

Sherwood Lincoln Whistletown Wilds Loc: southeastern Ct.

"Eastern Towhees the largest bird in the Sparrow family, prefer to be left alone, and they’re not afraid to show it. Threat displays to tell other towhees they’re not welcome to include lifting, spreading, or drooping wings, fanning or flicking tails. Research shows that male towhees defend territories much larger than what they need to secure food and nesting areas. The classic Towhee song sounds like “Drink Your Tea.”

Have had these here in Montana, well outside their range - photos somewhere. Fine shot of an interesting bird.
