What format are the photos in? Are they jpg's or are they raw photos?

I have tried with an iPad tablet and found it will only see original/uneditied jpgs. Don't know why. Uploading finished files to FB they can be "saved' to the iPad. Makes no sense to me but that's how i do it.

Does your tablet support OTG (on the go) USB, if so ensure your USB cable is suitable and you should be able to transfer your photos.

I have the same Samsung tablet but have never tried uploading any photos from an SD card reader to it. But since you brought it up I thought I'd give it a try. I put an SD card from my Canon 60D camera in the card reader and attached the card reader to the tablet. You will want to create a folder to store the photos. I created a folder titled "Canon 60D photos" under the Internal Storage/Pictures folder. The photos from the SD card showed up under MyFiles/USB storage 1/DCIM/100Canon. From there I changed the view from List to Grid in the upper right corner. If you touch and hold any of the photos in the Grid it will put a small circle on each photo with the one you touched and held having a check mark. This will be the photo to be moved. You can check each photo that you want to move. When finished selecting photos go to the upper right and click on the "More Options" next to "Delete". A menu will show up where you can select "Copy". From the menu that pops up I pick Internal Storage/Pictures/Canon 60D photos then click on "Done" in the upper right corner of that box. The files will then be moved.
At least all this worked on my Samsung t580 tablet.

BTW I just tried it with a CR2 file and it works with them but takes a lot longer to move them.

My Samsung Tab A S2 does not have a standard USB port, only one for charging. So I download pictures from the laptop to the tablet. Just drop copies into the Samsung window on the laptop under pictures.

I 'm going to give that A try. The camera shop I go to said they can make it so I can down load from my Nikon D5200 using wifi to A app so I wouldn't need A card reader.

I recently went thru a pile of USB cables. Discovering:
Some are data + power cables.
Some are data only cables.
Some are power only cables.
And some are erratic- the wires may have broken near the plug, and kinda work if you bend the cable.
Going to make sure I only have data+power cables, if possible.
