Shirley you jest. Then again, who cares what you or I think. You’re an exceedingly boorish righty and and I am the hated left. Those who are limited will follow your lead. Those who who care about others will self-reflect and wonder how you ended up the bitter, selfish person you seem to be. I agree, your way appeals to the lizard brain within us; my way requires thought and compassion.

Now your personal reaction, like mine is gratuitously given, bores others with our presumed intellect. This is of little consequence. Just know that intelligent others (including myself for all the presumption that means) see through you like the pane of glass you are (or would that be a pain in the ass?). No, neither you nor I are important.

Your assumption of superiority is amusing. You’re like a pretentious dog paddling in the ocean you pretend to command.

Thanks for the smiles you provided today!

Why? Are you that presumptuous?

I don’t know about you but I’m at the limit of my interest in this discourse.

I hope you enjoy your weekend. Though I totally disagree with you, I hold no animus.

What was presumptive?

I believe in the primacy of the citizen, you believe in the primacy of the state.

What a pantload.

It is undeniable that millions have read each of these books ... and that the majority have not, just as someone could rattle off a list of books I’ve never read.

In fact, this thread was intended for people to add to said list.

A few have added, but nary a leftist has.

Why do you think that is?

First of all, who is Shirley and what was she jesting about? Share it with all of us, or were you just name dropping in a futile effort to impress us with your limited intelligence.

Secondly your paranoid, whiney rant is the typical libby propaganda, pleading for self-justification. In the future please refrain from boring us with your tired, trite opinions. Thanks and don't forget to let all of us know who Shirley i,s genius.

I've never actually said what books I suggest be read here.

I've selected 22 across a broad spectrum including history, politics and economics.

I've kept it to one suggestion per author, although some are controversial it is essential IMHO to know the thoughts of those shaping the thinking of the modern world even if we disagree with them, an=nd even if they were mad.

A good library for starters:

RULES FOR RADICALS - Saul Alinsky

A HISTORY OF THE ENGLISH SPEAKING PEOPLES - Winston Churchill

DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA - Alexis de Tocqueville

CAPITALISM AND FREEDOM - Milton Friedman

THE ROAD TO SERFDOM - Friedrich Hayek

THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES - Ernesto "Che" Guevara

MEIN KAMPF - Adolf Hitler

POLITICAL PILGRIMS - Paul Hollander

WHAT IS TO BE DONE - Vladimir Lenin

A COMMUNIST MANIFESTO - Karl Marx

LIBERTY AND TYRANNY: A CONSERVATIVE MANIFESTO - Mark Levin

THE TRUMPET OF CONSCIENCE - Martin Luther King Jr

1984 - George Orwell

ATLAS SHRUGGED - Ayn Rand

THE GULAG ARCHIPELAGO - Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn

ETHNIC AMERICA - Thomas Sowell

THE CONTENT OF OUR CHARACTER - Shelby Steele

THE FEDERALIST PAPERS - Various authors

THE HOLY BIBLE - Various authors

THE HOLY QURAN - Various authors/unknown

THE ART OF WAR - Sun Tzu

HUMAN ACTION - Ludwig Von Mises

What kind of insecure small caliber intellect would brag about the books he claims to have read? To say nothing of the arrogant presumption of telling us that we must read them too.

OK, you are the giant intellect of the Attic. However, you are missing some books that you obviously not read but you, in particular should. You can start with these three (I have included the Amazon links to make your purchase of these even easier):

https://www.amazon.com/Miss-Manners-Basic-Training-Right/dp/0609600516/ref=sr_1_4?crid=13E3DHCFT822P&keywords=miss+manners&qid=1560039461&s=books&sprefix=miss+mnner%2Caps%2C190&sr=1-4

https://www.amazon.com/Workbook-Arguments-Second-Complete-Critical/dp/162466427X/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=critical+thinking&qid=1560039602&s=books&sr=1-6

https://www.amazon.com/Rational-Choice-Democratic-Deliberation-Discourse/dp/0521862698/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=rational+discourse&qid=1560039726&s=books&sr=1-5

When you think you have mastered these simple tomes, then we can discuss the next steps in remediating your manifestly deficient thinking processes and social skills.

You are most welcome.

What kind of troll would make your post?

Nobody bragged about having read the list, but you come across as quite jealous that I have.

Second, nobody said you must read anything ... and I’ve already conceded that you refuse to, but why it riled your gizzard so to learn that others have doesn’t speak well of you.

Now, please, let the grownups talk.

I think that others being able to make fact based and cogent arguments intimidates them.
