This is a poor quality shot but I was in a vehicle when we encountered a flock of wild turkeys half a block from our house. Along with the turkeys there were two or three of the birds shown below. They were about the size of a large chicken and the body shape reminded me of grouse or quail. I have never seen anything like them as far as I can recall. They were very shy and I couldn't get out of the vehicle without spooking them. The whole flock had gone over this gate and then proceeded to come back onto the road and move on.

Due to hunt clubs and the desire for exotic pet birds there are now feral peacocks, Amherst , green, silver and golden pheasants on the Maryland Eastern shore. Plus emus, ostiich and other ratites being farmed.
Not to forget mammals, there were a pair of wallibies seen loose near Sandy Point Park. An eight foot python was found in Grasonville( people thought it was mine). And the best one(not for the camel) was an escaped one from a live nativity, struck and killed on RT. 50 one Christmas. Alpacas, Llamas, bison, elk and many others being raised.
And exotics in Florida. (Remember alligators in New York sewers?)
Man the meddler, he thinks he will improve Mother Nature.
Good luck.

Florida definitely has its share of invasives, both flora and fauna. Now I know to add Guineas to the list!

It probably was but they seem quite content as part of the turkey flock. I have a neighbor who keeps assorted fowl in his backyard but I don't think they originated there. I'm sure I would have heard them if that was the case.

Yes, it's a guinea fowl, we used to have about 60 of them.
