Night time shooting partner?

I would like to get into some night time shooting in urban areas, downtown buildings, marinas, waterfront walking areas, perhaps more remote areas for star trails and Milky Way vistas etc., no sketchy areas (urban decay type areas). I am 6' 3" and 205 pounds and can take care of myself, but when looking through a viewfinder, one can lose track of one's surroundings and in general, when carrying expensive gear, two people is just plain safer. If anyone has similar interests and concerns, please PM me and perhaps this could provide new opportunities. I'm not looking for a large group or anything like that, just another person, possibly 2 at the most who may have the same interests and concerns. I am located in Washington state in the Browns Point area of Tacoma. Initially, for urban photography I would go as far north as Seattle and as far south as Olympia.

If you that paranoid, maybe you should concentrate more on day-time shooting.

Smart move. It’s hard to be aware of your surroundings when taking photos. You are not being paranoid but being wise.

Find a gang member who is doing community service as part of his/her sentence or parole. They should know the streets at night.

Hi, ahudina!

I would check out Meetup.com and search for a local or nearby photography group or Google for local camera clubs in your area. I organize a Meetup and am also currently the Prez of a very active club here in the Big Apple and we travel in and around the NY metro area to photograph interesting sites and locations during the day, late afternoon and evening/night.

Yes, there is safety in numbers! Cheers and be well! Ed

He is not at all paranoid. I have the same concerns after watching the news. You control your own safety!
