Erotylidae family, of which many are very colorful.
And not pleasing to the taste.
There were many on a rotting tree.
I have a few specimens if anyone wants one.
This is an inch long. A sister species is M.fasciata, almost identical except size, only 5/8 long.

Nice color, (perhaps an acquired taste).
That was a nice find Bill, I haven't seen one of these before. Their family name made me smile, apparently they are also called the Pleasing Beetle.

Etomology and entomology seem to go together. A bit of Latin helps
