Quick User Review: Sigma 30/2.8 for Sony E (used on eBay)

I took this purely for testing purposes. The point of focus was the red light. This is a screen print of a 100% view in FastRawViewer with adjustments to exposure and contrast plus USM sharpening which is always necessary in FRV. Conditions were mid-day, facing south, near Detroit, MI. 100% means this is a very small part of the original picture.

As you can see, the lens is wide open. I have, separately, tested edge and corner sharpness by shooting my monitor's screen and examining the tiny little squares across the frame. I'm no expert but I really don't see any difference between the center and the rest.

This lens (the Sony E version) is discontinued so I bought it on eBay from Japan. It was advertised as used, "top mint". It came in box with all part and the box was sealed in a plastic bag. If this lens was ever used it was not much; it looked new to me.

I have this lens and use it on my 6300. I find it a great value at $200. I didn't know it was discontinued. Check out the 19mm and 60mm. The 60mm is tack sharp center to corners. We are talking about the 30mm 2.8 art lens?

I put together a "poorboy" kit base around the Sony Nex6. I picked up used Sigma Art lens, 19, 30 & 60. I am amazed at what a cheap kit can do. The glass is very good and has produced some amazing images.
