By looking at the reviews and photo samples of the Hwawei P30 Pro, I find that dsl camera days is numbered. At a price of less than a pro zoom lens, it can do much more.
Its technology may not be truly optical, but the effect is similar to 100 times the iso capacity of today's camera. This is only the beginning of a new era of photo technology.
At least for now, you won't need to carry 20 lbs of photo gears on a safari trip.
Hwawei is a smart phone and network company, which is under Trump's censorship heavily.
If Hwawei opens a camera subsidiary, I believe a lot major camera companies will go bankruptcy.
And we can mothball our collections of gears.
Do you find this is true, scary, or fiction?

Just Googled it and there would be no way I could ever afford it

Something better is always going to come along. When you're ninety, you'll be able to talk about big-bpx cameras and your great-grandchildren will be amazed.

The affordability depends on how much you spent on the last gear or willing to spend on your next gear.
I bought a lower model before which was shipped from China, and it could not download Google Play or You-tube, so I returned it.
I could be as well refrain from buying any more gears now, so by the time I save enough, Huawei might even have a better model. The time span between P20 Pro and P30 Pro is only one year.

Tenny, it's a good thing you don't make a living predicting the future.

I accept that it is probably true given past experiences. Why should I be afraid?

Its not likely to get into building a camera subsidiary...there no money in shrinking markets.

There is a lot of fake hype about Huawei and potential spying but I think its just because the competition is losing ground and can't compete on a level playing field.

Smart phones are awkward to use as a camera. Add that to the list.

None Of The Above.

Camera phones are rapidly destroying the bridge and point-and-shoot markets. Mirrorless is slowly taking over the professional and advanced amateur market.

But as long as there are people who need high quality photos and dedicated users of older gear, there will be enough users to support a thriving market.

My Nikon, Rolleis, Haselblad, Graphics, and Super Ikontas will still be taking photos long after my bones have turned to dust.

There are thousands upon thousands of working Professional Photographers around the world that make their living with DSLRs, not cell phones. To predict that "the camera age is doomed" is absurd. Same as claiming that the DSLR age is doomed.

When somebody can capture this image with a Smartphone, I might pay attention.
