Spectacular!!! Corel Painter is an art program that can clone a photograph and then use different brushes and mediums to create endless numbers of interpretations of the photo. There is no need to buy paint supplies, it's all in the software!

As a fellow painter/photographer (although I have not yet combined the two as you have) - I think it is brilliant what you have done! It's a great painting and I truly admire how you have creatively overcome all of your difficulties to create art - a real achievement and very inspiring!

Agree wholeheartedly--PLUS. What you seem to bring as an extra is a very complex and wonderful sense of composition. (I have seen tens of thousands as an Art prof.)

We all have ways of overcoming life's issues. I for one will be the first to admit, several of my images are not good enough to be shown here. However, in the same breath, many of those images can be saved simply because I've had a chance to rethink how best these blurry images can be viewed.

I've developed a nervous condition as well as rheumatoid arthritis in my back, shoulders, hands & arms. So caring a tripod is nearly out of the question. But for those pictures I've already taken, I was about to throw these away until I though about returning to my root as an art teacher.

The idea was to take a couple of these blurry hand held photographs, transfer them to canvas then paint over the images with oil paints. For the last 2 years, I've been systematically selecting a couple of photographs, transferring these onto canvas then with a limited color pallet, I painted in the colors. Sort of like an adult paint by numbers kind of thing without any numbers. I was relying on a second photograph for the colors.

One image, was something I did not long ago. I placed a small vase on the back porch step with some fall flowers. As the sun rounded the house and shine down into the steps, I took the picture. Then login to the walmart photo site and had this photo transferred to canvas. 1 week later the canvas print was ready.

I set the canvas print on my easel and starting painting with a limited color pallet. One month later, I finished my "Flowers of Fall" impressionistic oil painting based on a blurry photograph.

Edit:

There's one good thing about all this, even though i shake with nerves.. this adds something to stokes of the paint brush. So it doesn't need to be perfect. Use the ability god has given you to the best of your ability. I hope to explore more images in the future with the new camera. Seems I'm better as a painter than a photographer, But both go hand in hand.

Update:

Due to limited space at the exhibit, I was only able to showcase the Lonely Teddy Bear Bookend. This exhibit has been taken place for the last 3 years and has increase in size. so I was fortunate enough to have been one of the first to register & have space made available to me for the Teddy Bear image. Perhaps in the future, I'll have a chance to exhibit the Fall Flowers painting at next years exhibit.

Update:

To all those artist/photographers who are looking for another avenue to sell or just display their work, I've just discovered artwanted.com I've posted several of my works there and most images/art are for sale in limited sizes and framing options.

The latest image: Burning Fields (The Harvest) is an impressionistic oil painting of a blurry photograph.

I've since discontinued posting my work online via the artwated site. I've tired other sites without any significant results. But I will say my latest work based on Japanese wave art has been very challenging for me. it take a lot of time to create the little wave swirls in each image. This image (3 panels, each 17 x 34) to create a mural.

Update:

Another work I've been working on "Ashes of a Forest Fire" which uses an actual photo, is this piece which I've submitted to the National Forestry Service to help support their "Only you can prevent Forest Fires" ad Campaign

Several months ago, I submitted this art/photo/mixed media to the national parks services without any luck. Images of a forest fire are very difficult to talk about when these fires wipe out millions of land across our country. However, I also submitted this art to the annual Johns Hopkins art/photography exhibition 2022 several months ago. I just got word from the host of the exhibition:

Quote

Dear participant,

The results are in for the People's Choice awards for the 2022 Johns Hopkins Art & Photography Show. We're happy to inform you that your "Ashes of a Forest Fire" is an award winner. We'll be announcing the winners at our virtual gathering tomorrow evening via a ZOOM meeting. We'd love to have you say a few words about your piece as we make the announcement for your award.

I've been forced to decline the invitation due to health concerns.

More detail about the artwork. This is a mixed media artwork based on the shadow forest image taken back in 2006. Using a printed copy of the shadow forest, I then painted over the art with Oil paints, colored Ink paints, color ink pens and watercolors. The white dots is a result of Sharpie whiteout paint marker.
