Hot Tub soft focus...
Hot Tub soft focus ... Originally shot on slide film and, much later, scanned into my computer. The lighting did have a blue tint to it so the coloring is intentional.

Harry, you have shown us several "soft focus" shots lately. I assume this was intentional. Did you use a filter, or simply de-focus the lens? [Or did you just have a crappy camera/lens ;-)]
Love the poses but not a big fan of the color tint. Just my opinion and I am sure that there are folks out there who love it. So it boils down to what you like and intended.
What a breath of fresh air! Soft focus in the days of required razor sharp focus.
What will become of us?

Mamiya C330 w/Mamiya 75 mm lens... experimenting with different color gels soft focus caused by steam off hot tub water
on a cool night.

Ya, I don't think my work is all that popular just because of the softness of my images. I've always liked more romantic and less explicit images.
A nice series of images DH. Have you tried any black and white conversions or some other colour filters apart from blue?
Both very nice. Not sure which I prefer, the black and white is more conventional, the blue more of an atmospheric shot.
I’m a monochrome guy, including these.

Sorry but they look way out of focus to me Harry. Soft V out of focus differentiated by grain. The grain is blurred; in soft focus it would be sharp.

My recollection .. grain is from the film, not the image. I'm sure these slides we put in my enlarger an attempted to be manipulated with litho film and that would have required the use of a grain focuses. I found that soft focus images did no lend themselves to litho manipulation. I did a lot of "home made filter" experiments.. not easy (or cheap) with a twin lens reflex. Attached are some of the filters I made and some I tried... may be I'll revisit with digital SLR - lower cost and I can see the image on the view screen then store in the computer.
Some of these filters were screen, nylon material, scarf material, various Mylar, acrylic, carbonation engineering test samples I came across in my job. some "blurred" the image some caused a glow around the image, soe softened the image. A the steam from the hot tub caused a softening and a slight glow (like fog).
