When I bought my new MBP last year I called Adobe and they helped migrate my CS3 from my old MBP. They were very helpful.

as you clearly do not know, adobe has abandoned all other versions of photoshop apart from the last two versions. They even warn you it might be illegal to use them today and urge you to delete the old software.

Unless I'm mistaken, the emails are to uninstall previous versions if you have the newer version. I can't see why they would tell you to uninstall a previous version if that is your only version. That doesn't make any sense. I'm pretty sure it's just to cover them for your using components of their software that may no longer be licensed to them. Basically it's their problem, not yours. One of my computers still uses Windows XP, SP2. When I open the Chrome browser I get a message that Chrome is not supported on XP. But it works fine, just like it did 13 years ago.
