Dumo I had the remarkable experience of having a friend buy a Z7, come immediately to my door and thrust it at me and say "set it up" and will pick it up in a couple of weeks. After recovering from the shock, I spent the the time working with it, and setting it up as I would like to work with it, and saved it to U3. When it was picked up and my friend left with it, I realized I had become hopelessly enamored with something I could not possibly afford. An agony I must recover from, if possible. Thanks for listening to my LOVE rant. RBorud

Well “fartlee”, nobody made you read this. You easily could have glanced at it, said “not my thing” and moved on. Yet you chose to comment twice, and made yourself look like the ass you might very well be.

I asked my kids. They all said Z7. Doesn’t it just sound so much cooler than saying I have an 850?

You are a real jerk. Please go somewhere else with your insults.

Z7
It's the future.
D850 is ancient history with antiquated mount that is dead.

What you originally posted is as worthless and stupid (yep, I said it - I don't mind the concept of stupid-shaming) as something on a car forum titled "Car" with the text being "Mini Cooper or Maybach". Got it? Think a minute before vomiting a half-thought onto the forum is all I ask.
That your UserID lent itself to a new term was merely a happy coincidence!

A lot of verbiage over a mere 15 letters posing a question
This man ask a simple question, Z7 or D850. He didn't ask about any other cameras or smart ass remarks.

Thanks for clartifying. You quoted my post but were apparently referring to another.
I have been thrilled with what my 850’s give me. I respect the top of the line Nikon, but with fewer pixels and a higher cost; I decided to sell it and get the 850’s. Now my backup is exactly the same camera. Two lenses w/o having to change as often works for me. I love the concept of the mirrorless and still have my old Canon Pellix. It was a dark viewfinder, but loved the idea. I know I don’t want to go through new lenses and adaptors for the Z’s and wonder about the balance between lenses and body, but it is only a matter of time until mirrorless is so good, they will totally replace DSLR’s at the top of the food chain. We’re not there yet. I will stick with and be very happy with the 850 DSLR images and comfort it provides.

Nikon D850, it is simply the best Nikon on the market today.

Ah, you forget that this is the
Uglyhedgehog, so named for a good reason. Apparently, the designers of the forum knew what kind of people would be attracted to a photography forum when they chose a name.
I suggest everyone go back and read all the replies. I find them embarrassing.
