I have both Topaz Denoise and AI Clear. For all but the noisiest images I use AI Clear, which works as a filter inside the free Topaz Studio. Although AI Clear is no longer advertised and will be incorporated into Denoise, I believe it's still available on their blog and can possibly be ordered through Studio. It does an amazing job of both cleaning up noise and sharpening images.
I'm a big AI Clear fan. I've also been using Denoise on a trial basis and for some slightly blurry images, it does well. Resource-wise it uses the memory on the graphics card. If you have a old graphics card, you will need to upgrade to resolve your performance issue. On a Winders machine, you can see this in the performance monitor. (I wouldn't even try it on my older laptop). The Topaz requirements page is very clear about this. If you are running on the minimum, you will not have a good time.
