Driving around some back roads near Anchorage, AK this evening we came upon this Black Bear coming out of the woods to graze on grass about 75 yds away, he was a BIG'UN, a healthy large beautiful male. Earlier today on our way to Talkeetna we spotted a female moose and her yearling calf (last year's) in a bog about 200+ yds off the highway, had to stop and take a few photos and they watched us the entire time. Back near Anchorage we came upon this moose grazing by the side of this back road, didn't seem to mind is though an kept eating the new green shoots and buds....She was just a really big critter. Hope you enjoy.
Depending on the time of the year, Alaska is like a driving through a zoo every day. Unfortunately the number of moose killed annually numbers in the 300+ range.
Very nice. That looks like a Big Black Bear. Concerning the body language of Moose, the ears laid back and the ruff on the shoulders raised like that means she is at least agitated and maybe even pissed off. It's a good thing you were in a car. They are very fast and very dangerous.

Nice set of images Blaster.
Great set, Alaska can't be beat for wildlife. We'll be driving up for our third trip to AK in the morning.
