Here is a poor shot but it does show the caracara in flight. Taken about 10 years ago with a Nikon D40x and 18-55 kit lens, so not much reach or resolution for BIF! This was taken in Petrohue, Chile on the western shore of Lago Todos los Santos - a beautiful area.

beautiful scene and if you zoom a good image ….thank you

You're welcome - sorry the wings aren't sharper though. It is an impressive bird.

Crested Caracara are an endangered bird that primarily feed on carrion. You can sometime see them amongst vultures either circling or feeding with them. Here in Osceola County Florida they can be found on cattle ranches that have scrub and trees. They are gorgeous in flight and I ask that if anyone has one SHOW ME PLEASE.

Nice shots.

They are rather common in south Texas. I live in Flour Bluff, about seven miles from Padre Island.

Great shots! I notice you are from Clermont. (I used to love riding my Yamaha RD 250 to visit friends in the Groveland, Winter Garden, Mineola, Clermont area in the '70s. Now, too much has changed...)

Yes, they are scavengers - preferring dead meat to killing it. In that regard, they are very efficient, they consume nearly everything of their food, internal organs, fur or feathers, leaving only the skeleton. At one time they were thought to be related to storks, but have recently been linked to hawks (vultures, that is. As I noted in my previous post the caracara is related to falcons.) I don't know if here is a common name for all, buzzards is not right, there are buzzards in Europe but not in the Americas, in America there are turkey vultures, black vultures and condors, but the are all grouped as old world vultures in the National Geographic field guide - whereas the caracara is included with falcons.

attachments are not my photos.
