The Race to Ogden, on the move

I am really disappointed with the quality of these pictures, especially as it appears to be operator error. I had a CPL filter on and should have taken it off, then I was too close to the tracks to get a good close-up as it passes me. Canon 80D with Tamron 18-400 lens. Conditions were partly cloudy, heavy overcast and WINDY.

These are from the second and third set-up locations. The 3rd has telephone wires and poles to contend with.

I enjoyed viewing these!!
In image number two, looks like if you had waited until the curve you might have showed the articulation of the locomotive.
Hope you captured it in another image.

You have some really good shots there!
I don't mind utility poles along the tracks since they started appearing with the first railroads.

LOL "Conditions were partly cloudy, heavy overcast and WINDY. "
Yup, you were in Wyoming.
Overcast is actually a plus for black locomotives.
A man in Cheyenne used to sell T-shirts with this slogan on them,
"Wyoming Annual Wind Festival"
"January 1st to December 31st"

Better than my shots of the 3985 that someone at the the developer took in the 1990's when shot with 35mm film. Perhaps, you are like me in that I am my own worse critic of my efforts. All in all pretty good and at least you got to see them :-)

These photos are worth salvaging as much as possible. You can probably fix or improve almost everything using a combination of Lightroom and Photoshop. If you have not done editing in the past, now is a good time to learn.
