I really like the Topaz stuff, but lately it's getting quite expensive to knit and pick only the software I really like. I like what the Topaz AI Sharpen can do but is there something in the Photoshop subscription that offers something similar to this? If not is there another software or better so I don't have to spend another $79.99 to add to my Topaz Studio plugins? Thanks in advance.

If you sign up for Topaz webinars, at the end you get a code for 20% off anything in their store. It can even be used on items that are on sale. Plus, the webinars are good.

I simply use a High Pass sharpen filter in Photoshop. I don't really know what the difference might be with the Topaz program. You might need to try a trial and read up on sharpening in Photoshop.

PS's High Pass filter is not in the same league as Topaz's Sharpen AI. PS does offer Shake Reduction, which sometimes can do a good job, but Sharpen AI is better.

Topaz has several AI packages that they have released:

DeNoise AI -- Best with images with lots of noise. Before the end of May, they are supposed to add the AI Clear functionality. Currently, I use AI Clear the most. The product AI Clear is being retired because DeNoise AI will include it.

Sharpen AI -- which you are talking about.

Giga Pixel for resizing.

I have used DxO Prime Noise removal for years. It is really good at removing noise. But Topaz is now matching it, and at the same time is making the image a lot sharper, in a natural way, and I am liking what I'm seeing. I suppose DxO is scrambling to out do Topaz at this point.

I do use Topaz on occasion and did purchase the DeNoise AI but the image I tried with it was not improved, so perhaps the issue was not noise. I like Topaz products in general. I'll have to check out the sharpen application at some point. Thanks for the info.

Most of the time, I use AI Clear, which has been out about 6 months. But is not available now until it rolls into DeNoise AI. It also removes noise and sharpens.

I am using SharpenAI a lot and it works. You have to decide which process you want to use. Sharpen, focus, or stablize

I love AI Clear. Bought it just a couple weeks ago -- will I have to buy something additional to keep it? Thanks.

AI Clear will be rolled into DeNoise AI, which is a free upgrade for those who already have AI Clear and Denoise.

Sharpen AI is something else. The sharpening can be duplicated with other software but the stabilize and focus features are awesome. They deal with camera shake and out of focus, respectively, and work better than anything else by far. Check it out with the free 30 day trial.

Owning AI Clear entitles you to be able to own DeNoise AI for free.

I found the most incredible results with the Stabilize option at 0.7. I’ll never throw away another OOF image again.

This what Sharpen AI Focus did to an image in which the ship was cropped heavily and out of focus due to Bokeh. Hard to believe, but it is that good!

My understanding is that they will be rolling the AI Clear features into the Denoise AI in the future, but you will still be able to purchase the AI Clear as an adjustment in Topaz Studio. The Denoise AI is a standalone product and does not require Topaz Studio. The same is true for their Gigapixel AI, Sharpen AI and JPEG to RAW product.

Topaz often has reductions and you should receive an e-mail of their Webinars, if not send them an e-mail and ask them to put you on their mailing list. It is best to wait a while when a new program is released as it is usually reduced later.
