In each of these photos is the, sometimes very small, shape of a raptor. When I am out photo/birding it is this distant shape that keeps me motivated. The hope is that they will still be there when I am within camera range! Please try the downloads.

What a fun and unique idea for a thread. You know I feel your hope (and pain), Phil

Hi Phil, tell me about it. I sat for a couple of hours last night hoping to see the short-eared owl only for a passer by to inform me that her husband had seen it out in the afternoon. O well, try again another day but it sure beats working for a living

All the best my friend across the sea Alan

Ken, with or without the raptors, these would be magnificent landscapes. The colors are just glorious...and I wish I was there!

Beautiful set anyway, Phil and there is always hope! PS- You appear to be positioned fairly close when taking image number two.

It is a very happy coincidence that my favorite subjects show up in my part of the world when the trees are bare, makes for some great long distance promises. Thanks for the visit my friend, hope all is well with you.

Thanks for the kind words Alan! Owls are world class hiders and disappointers, but they are always high on my list of hopes.
Best regards!

Thanks for the kind words Jan. I must often be content to enjoy these beauties from a distance and to celebrate thier habitat.

Thanks jederick, for me it is often the journey as much as the destination that satisfies. I think many of your posts reflect that.
