Moving to a Full Frame

I am thinking of moving from my current Canon 60D to a Nikon Full Frame D750 with the 24-120 lens.
I know there are supporters of both brands in the UHH but I can't afford the Canon full frames at this point and, at 72 years old, I'm not sure I will be around to fully enjoy a 5DIII or IV.
Am I thinking about this too deeply, or should I just go ahead and do it?
Thanks for any advice.

A friend of mine recently bought the same combination of Nikon camera & lens. He is very happy with them and taking very good photos as of late. He had been using a D3100. The D750 being 24MP is also fantastic in low light. Sure it is an older model but there is no "D760" or "D770" yet, only higher models for more money. I'm not up on the Canon 60D to know how it compares.

Check Nikonusa web site for sales on refurbs.

I’m suffering GAS now towards a refurb D850. I sold my D800 for a Z6 last fall. I’m now regretting it. The D850 will solve the regrett, but still holding off.

Wish you the best on your health challenges. Losing her hair was the worst thing for my wife. But it came back.

Nikon has refurb D750 and 200-500s on their site for good price: Nikonusa.com. My experience with 5 Nikon refurbs has been outstanding.

One of my basic rules of life: If you think you should do it, then do it. If you thought you should have done it, then it's probably too late. chase

I have the same camera/lens combo. Nikon usually has a sale near Father's Day, if you wait you can get that body/lens combo cheaper and possibly with a grip.

If its not going to hurt anyone then go for it. We should always strive to give our best and likewise seek the most experience out of life. So that during the days we can only look at the setting sun waiting to sleep, there would be no regrets.
We may never pass this place again... make enough memories so that once is enough.

Have you used a Nikon before? It seems an odd decision to decide to change brands to simply get to full frame. The EOS 6DII kit is about the same price. Granted, Canon doesn't have a full-frame model that matches directly to the D750 and Canon doesn't have a full-frame zoom as "long" as the 24-120. Other than a full-frame sensor and price, are there specific features of the D750 that make it the better choice to the 6DII or Canon's more basic mirrorless full-frame, the EOS RP?

I'm probably not the only one wondering but why are you regretting the Z6 buy?

I choose the Z6 over the D800 any day of the week. While I think it is a really good camera, I wouldn't choose the Z6 over a D850. The Z6 out performs the D850 with its ISO capability and fps but the D850 outperforms otherwise in my opinion.

The D750 is discounted to $1496 right now (new). I purchased one from B & H Photo just a couple of months ago. It was $1296 at that time.

Watch out with the 24-120mm lens. It has a lot of barrel distortion at the wide end and a lot of pincushion distortion at long focal lengths. You'll have to make sure you apply lens correction profiles.

I sold my D800E and my D4s, both fabulous cameras, and my 24-70/2.8G, and replaced them with a Z7 and a 24-70/4S. The new camera and lens combo is about half the size and weight of the old one, and 45 Mpixels to boot. For landscapes, macro, and portraits the Z7 is unmatched. We’ll see how well it works on birds using my 300/2.8 VRII; I’m hoping the upcoming firmware update will improve the image tracking.

I have that exact same camera (Nikon D750) and lens.
I really like it and have only scratched the surface of what it can do.
The only thing I will say is that its not light and the lens is heavy.
Have you handled one? I would suggest that before making your decision.
Its an excellent camera.
