Interesting. Well, there was at least one Fujifilm X100T image. I bought my wife one of those. She finds it too confusing to use as do I, so back to my Pentax cameras...

In fine arts (photo) museums I wonder how many of those images were taken with Sinar, Burk & James, and other View Cameras? Some photo artists are still shooting 8x10" and 4x5" film!

Very interesting, and easy to jump to conclusions. Judging by the data, Leica must make crummy cameras.

I don't understand this tendency of crediting cameras for photographs.
I see it here all the time " shot with my D850" or what ever.
Unless a camera has a unique feature that others do not have,it seems to me that most photographs could be taken with any reasonably modern camera.
End of rant

I agree that most cameras are capable of fine images if the photographer does their part. But some folks like to know, whatever their reason may be. I’ve certainly done it both ways.

I'm sure it's only because this is a photo forum. On a musical forum, the emphasis would be on the make and model of the instrument making the music. Almost anything can look good when posted online. I have a friend who posts lots of pictures on Facebook using an old compact camera. All the pictures look great, but they don't fill the screen. There's n ever any mention of the type of camera being used because that's irrelevant.

I’m waiting for a response from a certain Sony apologist

My take is they mention the D800, but there is nothing on the D810 and they jump to the D850. Another point is would people pick these cameras based on brand loyalty, price point or technical reasons.

I thought Canikon cameras took better pictures - are you saying that the photographer also has something to do with it? Surely that's not possible - photographers just push the buttons and chat on forums - don't they?

I don't know about crummy, but I know they are overpriced in comparison to performance. The Leica of 50 years ago was unbeatable. Today...

I think price has a lot to do with it. As stated most cameras today do a great job. Why spend 5x or 10x the money to do the same thing.

I would submit that photographers create photos and musicians play music. In the hands of talented practitioners of either genre, the medium used is largely irrelevant.

It's not the camera that makes a good photo, it's the artist. That's like saying that if I buy a stove that costs $20,000 I'll be a better cook than if I have a stove that only costs $600.

No - you've got it wrong - it's the stove that does the cooking. You only turn it on and off.

Asking what kind of camera a good photographer uses is like asking picasso what kind of brush he used.
