I gave it a lot of though, and yesterday I ordered a Fuji X-T30 with 18-55mm lens from Amazon. By ordering early enough, I was able to get next-day delivery. That's the good part.

The bad part: no SD card will snap into the slot. I tried several that I had used in other cameras, but it will not stay. I'll have to pack it up and send it back. The camera was obviously brand, with perfect packing of all the part. There are no foreign objects in there, and I can push the card all the way down. It just doesn't click. I guess the clicker is broken.

Unless one of you has an easy fix, I'll let Amazon know and send it back on Monday. Now I'll have to decide if I want to get a replacement or a refund. Maybe my Sony a6000 and D750 will be enough for me.

EDIT: Never mind. It's working fine now. Same cards, same slot. Now the cards snap in and out just as they're supposed to. Maybe the camera was just testing me to see if I would be a loyal owner.

A minor glitch in the process Jerry. Get the replacement - you’ll love the Fuji, and that is an excellent lense.

Now that it's working, I'll do some shooting tomorrow and see how it works. The manual is over 300 pages, so I think Auto will be just fine, at first. : )

Could be the result of Fuji shifting production to China?

I also struggle with everything that is new and different from what I already own. It could be that I am OLD & STUPID......naw....not on Your Life haaaa

I enjoyed reading your post and it keeps me sane as does this UHH forum when I encounter a new hurdle and this hobby is Full Of That....yes indeed. What a JOY !

Thanks and good luck with the new FUGJI whatever it was?????

The latch was probably temporarily stuck. I had the same thing happen on my new Chromebook, the card would seat and read, but it didn't latch or eject properly. However, after a couple dozen insertions, it started working normally and I've had no trouble with it since. Good luck and good shooting to all.

I would prefer a camera that worked correctly right out of the box. It may work now, but later, who knows. I would send it back and get another one that would work properly right out of the box.

Jerry I would think twice. If it did it once it will probably do it again down the road. That is a mechanical error and unless fixed they don't go away. I know how frustrating that can be but trust your instincts.

You lucked out.
I had the same problem with my DSLR but it happened after a few years of use. Eventually, I had to send it out for repairs. I've been thinking about a camera to lighten my load for travel and unplanned events and now looking at the Fuji XT-30, since the XT-3 is larger and more expensive. DP review likes the XT-30. I would be interested in your assessment of it. Thanks.

Congratulations on your new purchase. I read about that camera before it was released. And, was impressed with the features it offered. Glad the SD card problem was solved.

Glad to hear it was a short lived problem. I can only imagine the relief you felt when it corrected itself.

Best of luck with the new toy ....err CAMERA!

I think you will be impressed with the Fuji brand. And the glass is great. Good luck and tell us if things work well going forward. Happy Shooting.

Jerry when you’ve used the camera for awhile, would you be so kind as to post a quick review? My LX100 has an issue with the lens/lens housing and the repair cost from Panasonic is outrageous so I’m looking to go in a different direction. Your sage advice is always appreciated....at least by me! Thanks!

You were right the first time. I do see it as a toy - something I will enjoy playing with.

Amazon has been so good to me that I hate to inconvenience them by returning an expensive item., I'll just suffer along.

Seriously, I think it was just one of those things, and it will be all right for all eternity. How's that for optimism?
