Shot at a zoo in St. Augustine.
We have red-capped cardinals in the Chicago zoos, but a bit different than this guy. Great capture.
Yes, in Hawaii. Beautiful picture.

Fotoartist, I've never seen one before, but I feel I have now. With better eyes than usual too. Thanks!
I concur with rehess, it is a red crested cardinal.
Where is the St Augustine Zoo?
I have shopped and enjoyed sight seeing and eating at restaurants and stayed on the beach, but never encountered the Zoo. Where is it located?
No I haven’t seen one like this, beautiful bird...

Most of us wouldn't see a bird native to South America - outside a zoo, that is.
Neat looking bird......haven't seen one like that before.
This is a red crested cardinal (Paroaria coronata). They are native to Argentina Paraguay, Uruguay, and parts of Brazil. They have also have been introduced to Puerto Rico and a are some what common in Aviculture.
They belong to the family Thraupidae (tanagers). North American cardinals belong to the family Cardinalidae.
